Ralph's Remorse

Simon's murder has brought me shame

He was the angel of this island

A ray of light in an otherwise dark world

How could this happen?

My guilt is like a weight on my shoulders

My sorrow is never ending

The trees cry for him and

The rocks scorn us all

He's gone, and he's never coming back

I cried the loss of a companion

My loneliness is like a never-healing wound

I now know that the beast is real

Simon was right; it was inside us all along

I'm sorry, Simon
