Daisies and Demons
Sometimes there are moments when she would like to forget, when the emotions become heavy burdens and all of the smiles turn fake. Sometimes there are moments when she would like to forgive, allow herself penance from all of her sins and tolerate others for never understanding. Sometimes there are moments when she would like to change, erase the past and start entirely anew. Sometimes there are moments when she would like to stay the same, having the whole world conform to her standards. And sometimes it takes a moment, just one, minuscule moment, for a person to have their everything flipped upside down, where nothing makes sense, yet everything seems clear.
And sometimes, no, one time, there was a moment when she fell in love.
And how could she not? With hair as golden pure as the centers of daisies, and skin as creamy white as the petals surrounding, only a fool wouldn't fall absolutely captive to her beauty.
Oh, but it wasn't just her outward appearance that she'd fallen completely mad over. The hidden stories that those bright blue eyes seemed to hold, how they were like reflective walls that refused to let anyone into her small universe, they were enticing and strange. She wanted to become closer. She wanted to know more.
And as the years slipped through their fingers, like a demon being tempted by a goddess, they danced along the fine line of safety and danger. They fell to their knees and they fell in love. It was a delicious, wonderful thing, but all of it shifted when they fell one more time.
They fell apart.
When every so often those sparkling tears would make their debut, escaping from the mysteries that masked her secretive eyes, she would find herself yearning to hold her hand. Lacing their fingers together like the fine workings of a masterpiece, she would whisper the sweetest words that could be mustered without sounding sickening, and it made her believe that she didn't have to try anymore. Those moments of wanting to forget, to forgive, to change, to stay the same, she was under the illusion that she'd achieved them all. That she'd achieved everything.
But from a choice that was fabricated within her very own mind, what she was left with was nothing.
Was it an act of selfishness or selflessness that caused her to turn her back to the only thing that ever mattered in the world,on the only person that elicited such true, such human emotions out of her? She was silly and she was a fool, and she began to wonder if she was just the same as the other fools that had never bothered to bat and eyelash at her undeniable beauty, never even bothered to try.
No, she was different. She was better, because instead of fearing that poisonous potion that people tend to refer to as "love", she grabbed it by the base of its bottle and drank it whole. Sure, she choked and she gagged along the way, but the satisfaction that ultimately erupted from that sweet elixir was enough to make her forget about all of that. She tried, and she didn't have to. She changed, and she didn't. She forgave, and she hated the entire world.
And boy, was it a beautiful thing.
Hi there! Chappy here! :D
Wow, this is incredibly short and super poetic, but happy birthday to Ymir! I don't know what it is about this girl, but whenever I write something pertaining to her, I can't manage to write fluff. Angst, angst, always angst.
Anywho, I hope you enjoyed! And thank you for taking the time to read!
