Do you know what death is? You do? Well you're wrong. I know. Death is like a sense of, newfound reality. Everything freezes. It's not as quick as many may think. There's no painless death, there's no, life that flashes before your eyes. It. Just. Doesn't. Happen. But that's not the point. I'm getting off topic. The point is, I've experienced it head-on. So you may think I'm dead. Technically, I am. But, I'm also alive and breathing. So I'm like every other human being. Except, I don't have a pulse. My heart has stopped beating. Also, I can't die. I can't age. I'm stuck in my own 'alternate universe' per say. Everything goes on, but, I stay. I forever shall. It's my curse, and my own to bear. Except for the one who tried to make it theirs. This, is where my story begins...
My hand shields my face against the burning sun. I stumble, but catch myself right before I fall. I'm tired. You see, the sun just isn't my element. And the arrow in the side of my torso doesn't help either. It hurts me now, as I walk. I see a door. I try to run for it, but I fall short after a few seconds. I'm down. That's all it takes. My skin begins to blister, and my dress starts to sizzle. The arrow digs deeper into my side, and I let out a high-pitched whine. I'm dying, I know. But if I can just get to that door... My hands claw at the burning ground, but I can't pull my self any farther. I drop, exhausted, onto the ground, practically on fire. I can't take this pain. I scream for help.
"Help! Please! Anybody! HELP!" I shriek the last part. I can hear sirens going off from behind that door.
"Please..!" I plead to the closed door. It starts to open. 'Thank God.' I think to myself. Two men come out. There's 2 medics inside the room. I see hope.
"Please, help!" I manage to croak out. The men share a look, then move to pick me up. They nearly drop me from the coolness of my skin. I growl. The medics back away slowly.
"Don't drop me." I hiss through clenched teeth. Then as we enter the doorway, a soothing coolness seeps into my bones. I'm still in pain but not nearly as much as I was before. I can finally breathe. I didn't notice before, but I had been taking shall breaths out in the open ground. My view starts to darken, and I find myself panicking. My breaths become faster, and my frost starts to envelope the floor. My view darkens even more. 'No, I can't die, not now! I need to save Anna!' Is my last thought before my vision turns to black.
Colonel Graff's POV
"Sir! She can be a powerful asset to our force! You've seen what she can do! We cannot let this opportunity go to waste!" The Major argues. But I cannot let this girl in here, as I have no idea of where she came from. Or who she is. I cannot take that risk.
"Look, she could be a spy for all we know. We just can't take that chance. If we just knew more about her, then maybe I would consider it. But she hasn't woken up yet, so I haven't gotten any information on her except that she knows a person named 'Anna'. I am sorry, but I have to think for the good and safety of all of us." I reply. Then a man bursts through my door. I glare at him.
"What is it?" I ask through clenched teeth. This meeting was supposed to be private.
"She's woken up, Sir." He states. I jump up from my chair, and look to the Major.
"Well, here's her chance of becoming a cadet." I say, and walk out the door.
