"I can't believe we are graduating today. It's the start of a brand new point in our life. I expect all of us will achieve great things. To date there are several people who has gotten me to the point I'm at now. But really the people I want to thank the most is my mom and my dad. My mom was and still is my best friend. My dad was and still is my hero. My mom was the one that convinced me that I'm an amazing person. The accomplishments I made were in her mind long after they had left my own mind.
"School isn't just about tests and homework. In school you discover yourself. You learn who you are. You learn what's right and wrong and what you are most comfortable with. School prepares you for life. My little sister Olivia once said that life is unpredictable so how can you be prepared. What I learned from my family is that being prepared isn't so much about knowing ahead WHAT is going to happen. Instead it's about knowing what to do when it happens.
"I don't know where my life is going to bring me, say in twenty years from now. I could be an actress like my mom. I could be a writer. Heck, I could be living in the white house. I don't know. But I do know that whatever my life holds I am in control of how I react to it. I refuse to accept defeat. My mom taught me that. My dad taught me never to give up on anything I am trying.
"Before we leave the building of this high school for the last time lets take some time to reflect on the past four years. We are not ending anything. We are just beginning. Some of us are going off to college. Others are getting married and starting a family. Still others are going to start working. We are going to live good lives. We are going to be proud of what we have accomplished because it is our own accomplishments.
"To sum it up we have been blessed with friendship, love and laughter. Lets let it guide us to where we might end up."
