The group of survivors had finally reunited; all of them were anxiously waiting for call from the people on the freighter, or a sign of a ship approaching the beach. It was late and the camp was silent. Juliet was seating in from of the fire examining it closely. She thought of her sister and the possibility of seeing Rachel again after more than 3 years. She thought of the kiss she had given Jack, and how their lives would change if they were rescued. She remembered the kiss, and how it felt, so sweet and the only thing she could do at the time. She had never been impulsive, but she didn't regret kissing him.

As Juliet was lost in her thought she heard the footsteps on the sand, deep down in her heart she knew who this person was. Once Jack stood on her side, she turned to him and gave him and curled her lips into a smile. Without speaking a word he sat next to her. She turned her attention to the fire again. He had been busy being Moses all day, and she didn't want to bother him, so they hadn't talk about anything, much less about them.

Jack knew that he wanted to be there next to her, but he didn't know what to say. Juliet looked at him, and knew something was wrong, he was tense, for a long time now Jack had stopped being tense around her.

"What's wrong Jack?" she asked looking at him with her piercing blue eyes.

She thought that maybe he was tense because he didn't know how to reject her.

"How do you know something's wrong?" Jack asked with a condescending tone characterized him.

Juliet responded lifting her eyebrow, Jack could stand her knowing look and looked away.

"Jack" she said.

Jack nodded, and dropped his head and looked at the sand. Juliet looked back at the fire. Jack decided to let her in, once again.

"I told Kate that I loved her" he said without lifting his head.

Juliet turned to him surprised; he was looking at the fire, so she did the same thing. All she utter was,

"Oh"

There was a long moment of silence; Juliet didn't know how to react. Juliet thought that Jack was telling her so that she would back off, to let her down nicely, then she looked back at the camp, and remember she'd seen Kate and Sawyer together earlier in that direction. And realized that Jack was telling her this, because she was his friend, he trusted her, he needed her. Juliet sighted, and finally broke the silence.

"And what did she say?" she asked him.

Jack forced a smile and stared at her.

"She didn't say anything" he answered. This time it was Juliet who could stand his sharp gaze.

Juliet felt his pain, just like when they first met and he told her about her father. And just like that day, she lifted her hand to touch him, except that this time, there was no glass between them. She touched his shoulder, and like the day the met she softly said

"I'm sorry"

Jack remembered the day they met, and looked back at her, she had the same look on her face. Juliet was sad for him; he knew she felt sad for him, then Juliet's words that day 'You can trust me, Jack. I'm not going to hurt you' echoed in his head.

Jack forced another smile for her, and took her hand from his shoulder and squeezed it between his own. Jack had decided to let her in, and she hadn't disappointed him. Jack knew he could trust Juliet, and that she wasn't going to hurt him. Juliet wished she could make one of her clever jokes, but nothing occurred to her, then they both realized that there was no need for more words, they sat in silence and watched the fire burn out.
