Empty Spaces

Cal looked down at his hand and then back to Gillian who was staring at him with curiosity, "Your fingers were the only ones that fit perfectly between mine... but now there are just empty spaces."

She sighed and watched as he traced his hand.

"Her head doesn't lay right on my shoulder... not like yours did. Now it's just... an empty space." He took a deep breath and walked over to her. "She doesn't fit right in my arms, love... not like you did. When I go to bed at night... she just doesn't fit right... there are still empty spaces."

"Cal..." She said with a small sigh.

"Her lips don't connect with mine like yours did."

"Cal."

"My arm doesn't go around her shoulder or her waist right... there is just something off about it... there are still empty spaces when we hug... Gillian." He held her face in his hands and smiled, "My hands fit around your face perfectly. She doesn't match me like you do... no one every has. Gillian you are perfect for me."

She felt as his thumb lightly rubbed her cheek and he smiled, "Cal I don't think..." He let his hands fall to his side.

"Don't think Gillian... just fill the empty spaces."

Their hands connected and their fingers intertwined, filling the empty spaces.

She laid her head on his shoulder and filled the empty spaces.

He wrapped his arms around her waist and filled the empty spaces.

Their lips met and she filled the empty spaces...
