Hey there! ;D This is my first fanfiction attempt in two years. p: I apologize if it sucks. Yeah it's a really odd concept. It's a little confusing now, but chapter two clears things up. I'm actually an IchiRuki fan, but this idea came to me and I couldn't help entertaining the idea. Please let me know what you think and if you'd like me to continue posting it here. Oh and Yoruhoshi means night star. It comes into play later. :D Enjoy :3

Disclaimer: Bleach doesn't belong to me p: But Kai does l: If I owned Bleach…:3

I could tell today was going to be a good day. The sun was shining brightly through the clouds, warming me to the core. The sun's rays illuminated everything in the small park, giving it a peaceful aura. A soft breeze blew by, keeping me from getting too hot. I rolled over on my back, soaking up the rays. The lush grass felt soft against my back, creating an even greater sense of relaxation.

Days like this were common in Karakura town. It was probably the only reason I stuck around this long. The people here were also very kind, and would often leave food out for me. It was a nice change from many nights of hunger. Needless to say, life was good right now.

I felt every limb in my small body relax as my mind slowly slipped into unconsciousness…

"HEY! WHAT ARE YOU DOING!!"

"KYAHH!"

All five of my senses became alert at the sudden noise. My body instinctively flipped itself right side up with all four legs braced for anything. A quick glance of my surroundings allowed me to locate the source of the loud noise.

About 30 feet away stood a boy and a girl. The girl was rather short, with black hair reaching her shoulders. The small tears in her eyes, her odd stance, and horrified facial expression all indicated that she had been scared moments ago. The boy was rather tall, adorning a slim fit t-shirt with some sort of saying and tight pants. He had a mess of orange hair on top of his head and amber colored eyes. His face was adorned with a permanent scowl. He seemed to be covered with a black substance, and was holding what looked like a baseball bat. Anyone could clearly see he was agitated with the girl in front of him.

"Y-y-y-you fool! Don't surprise me!! I'm…studying modern speech." The small girl sputtered trying to regain her composure. I couldn't help being amused by them, so I trotted closer to get a better view. I stopped when I was only 5 or so feet away.

"Huh? Studying modern speech? With that book?" The boy have her an incredulous look, "You're making me train while you relax and read a horror manga!? Where did you get that from, anyway?" The girl seemed to calm down slightly, only to completely avoid his questions of where she got the book.

"..Hm. You're done with the training?" She questioned with tears of surprise still clinging to her eyes. I continued to sit there as she scolded him for doing his "training" wrong, while he criticized her ability to draw. Their words about "hollows" did not make much sense to me, but their fight interested me nonetheless.

"Ichigo, look at that dog." So Ichigo was his name? My eyes perked up at the girl saying the word dog. It looks like they finally noticed me. The girl slowly approached me as if testing my friendliness. I let my tail wag once to let her know I didn't mind her approach. Her feet tapped lightly against the ground as she made her way over to me.

"Rukia, leave the poor dog alone," who I had learned was Ichigo said. And this girl was Rukia. She ignored Ichigo's protest and slowly reached her hand out. I responded by pushing my head into her hand. She proceeded to scratch behind my right ear. My eyes drooped slightly at the pleasant feeling.

"See? It likes it." She said, continuing her scratching. I growled slightly at being called an 'it.' She seemed to hear the growl and quickly snatched her hand away.

"Now look. You pissed it off." Ichigo muttered. I turned my head slightly to growl at him as well.

"I think she's mad we called her an it." Rukia voiced her idea. My tail wagged at her keen perception skills.

"How do you know it's a girl?" the carrot-headed boy asked.
"Simple," she replied, "Only a girl would get angry over being called an it." My tail proceeded to wag more and what could be perceived as a smile appeared on my face.

"Well where's its owner?" Ichigo continued with the questions, "Is it wearing a collar?" I felt Rukia's hands slide to my neck as she grabbed the black material around it. She turned it until she found the gold plate.

"There's no address or anything. It just says 'Kaiko.'" She read, confusion mildly evident in her words.

"That must be her name. Well its owner is bound to show up eventually. C'mon Rukia, let's go." He proceeded to turn around and walk away. Rukia scratched my ear one last time before following after him with a wave goodbye.

'Well, that was quite a bit of excitement for one day,' I thought as I trotted off, 'Now, where was I?' Without any further thought, I lied back down on the grass, and slowly dozed off.

That's all for now p: Sorry it's so short! D:
