Teddy bears and Flowers
Even though she had no family, she held the record for having the most people attend to her funeral (other than the Hokage, of course). She was a friend to everybody in the village and had next to no enemies. The Rookie 12, well 11 now, was taking place of her family, organizing her funeral and all of them took time to prepare a short speech in her honor, even Shikamaru and Sasuke.
Everyone had said their speeches but Neji. He had been sure to bring her panda teddy, just as he had promised her. He placed the bear gently on her chest after bowing to her and kissing her lifeless form, allowing a single tear to fall upon her unmoving body, swiftly caressing her slightly flattened cheek, before going to the podium, smiling sadly to the audience, to recite his last words to her.
"I guess we can all say that Tenten was an extraordinary girl. She had no family so she made one out of friends, neighbors, and townsman. She could bring out the best in people, even in their worst time. She know everyone's deepest secrets. And despite her being a ninja, her love for weapons, and her tomboy figure, she hated fighting and having enemies and loved one of the most beautiful flowers known to man. In a way we all loved Tenten, whether it be as a friend, in a brotherly/sisterly way, or as something more." Neji concluded his speech with a bow to the crowd.
Everybody gathered around the now closed casket, the Rookie 11 in the front to watch as the soulless body, be lowered into the ground.
Within the hour everybody other than Neji had exited the burial grounds. Making sure no one was watching, lurking in the shadows, Neji went up to a random tree and from behind it he pulled out the most beautiful and rare flowers anyone had ever seen, Tenten's favorite. The flower's pedals were light pink near the center, then starting at the middle, gradually got darker until the edges were a beautiful hot pink. Before turning to leave, Neji silently whispered, "I will never forget you, my dearest Tenten."
When Neji did turn to leave, he saw a spirit, silently watching him, Tenten's spirit. "Neji," she said, her voice faint. "I do not want to dwell on what could have been. I want you to find a new happiness, then when the day comes, we will reunite in the afterworld, but please Neji, don't make that day come anytime soon, if you do I can tell that later on you will regret it, no matter what the reason."
70 years later…
Neji had died of a stroke, but he wasn't scared to die, he knew that, eventually, everybody dies. He had never ended up marrying but he did adopt 2 children.
He was walking through a forest when suddenly he came to clearing that streached as far as the eye could see. The forest behind him disappeared and a misty fog surrounded him. Neji looked down to see that his spirit had taken on his 17-year-old form, the age he and Tenten were when she died.
He looked to see what he assumed to be the gates of heaven, opened. Just outside the gate was Tenten, in her 17-year-old form, too. He walked and walked until she outstretched her arm to him. He gripped her hand as if she was the only link between him and sanity.
"Its been too long," Tenten said, obviously wiser but still Tenten.
"too long is right, my darling Tenten," Neji replied. He too, was wiser, but again, still the same, 17-year-old Neji. And hand in hand, they walked through thehuge, golden gates, together.
The End.
