Daddy, why did mommy leave?

By: Kat-san

Disclaimer: I don't own Rurouni Kenshin.

A/N: This story will be around the year 2004. Not around the meiji era.

7-year-old Tsubasa Himura was watching the coffin lower into the ground with tears in her eyes. Her father, Kenshin Himura, was also crying for his wife has died from a hit-and-run accident. Sano, Megumi, Yahiko, and everyone else were there at the funeral. They stayed for a while and they slowly left. When Kenshin and Tsubasa were the only ones left, Tsubasa looked up at her father. She looked back at the grave and asked,

"Otuu-san?"

"Hai Tsubasa?"

"Do you love me?"

"Hai. Sessha will always love you that I do."

"Does Kenji love me even though he's gone?"

"Hai. He loves you even though he's gone to college."

"Does Uncle Sano, Auntie Megumi, cousin Yahiko, and the others…..do they love me?"

"Hai. They do."

"Does okaa-san love me?"

"Hai. She has always loved you even when you were born that she does. Why are you asking these questions?"

Tsubasa started to cry and yelled.

"Then why did okaa-san leave us? Was I bad? Did I do something wrong? She didn't like us or something? Why?!" Tsubasa was kneeling in front of her mother's grave, and cried. Kenshin kneeled and hugged her.

"You didn't do anything wrong Tsubasa. Okaa-san loved us very much. It was her time to go." Tsubasa looked at her father with tears and wonder in her eyes. "She will always love you even though she's gone. Remember, she'll always be with you." Kenshin wiped away her tears and smiled.

"How otuu-san?" Kenshin smiled even more and pointed to Tsubasa's heart.

"There. Remember, if you're feeling down or in trouble. Okaa-san will be there watching you." Tsubasa giggled and hugged her father.

"Arigato otuu-san. You're the best otuu-san ever!" Tsubasa said and ran towards the car. Kenshin watched her run happily, and then he looked back at the grave.

"I'll always remember you that I will……….Kaoru. Tsubasa had the best mother she ever had……..and she'll never forget." Kenshin said and felt a gentle breeze pass by.

"Otuu-san!! Come on, I'm getting hungry!!" Tsubasa yelled while she was standing next to the car. Kenshin smiled and he placed a bouquet of roses next to the grave. Then he left to catch up with Tsubasa. While he was walking away from the grave, a woman was standing next to the head stone with tears in her eyes.

"I'll never forget you two. Kenshin, take care of Tsubasa. I love you." She whispered and disappeared. On the headstone the words said:

Kaoru Himura

June 18, 1978 – January 20, 2004

A dear friend, wife, and mother.

We'll never forget you.

A/N: I know, I know…..it's cheesy and dumb. I just thought this up, and decided to type this idea up before it disappears. I don't know what you think of this fanfic, but you can put in the review section.
