The Lovely Bones alternate ending

My name was Salmon, like the fish; first name, Susie. I was fourteen was I was murdered on December 6, 1973.

It had been years after my murder. My family was growing yet I wasn't part. My nieces and nephews grew up without knowing who I was. My body was still inside the safe. Yet I could tell that there was something about to happen.

I looked over at the sinkhole that was acting weird. I watched harder, hoping that it was going to give my remains back to my family.

Almost as if it heard my wish, it spit up the safe. The safe sat there on the side of the sinkhole. The lock had fallen off and the door began opening.

My body was already starting to decay. The stench was strong enough to cause people to wonder there. My father was among the people.

Cops and Len Fenerman blocked off the area and investigated. They had to cover their noses to try to repel the scent.

They took my remains to a lab and tested the DNA.

Len had to break the news to my family. He called the house and my sister picked up the phone. "Hello?"

"This is Fenerman…"

Lindsey glared at the phone. "Why are you calling now?" she asked.

"I have news. We found your sister, Susie's remains." He spoke.

Her eyes widen in shock and my father took the phone from her and got the same news and they had to tell the rest of the family. It almost seemed as if my family fell apart again. But they were relieved that they now had closer.

They buried my remains and everyone there was crying. But if only they knew about what had truly happened that dark, faithful night.

I wish you all a long and happy life.
