"John...just find out who's the machine".

He remembered that day so very clearly, and he wished he could have told her. But he instead hid away his emotions, his soul, after all, he was a Spartan. Spartans don't feel, or...care. She was more human than he could ever be, she had wanted to feel his touch, to bask in the sun, to live. But she's gone, gave her short life to save all of humanity.

He had been welcomed back like a hero, but he did nothing. Everything he did, he owed to her. The day he had found her chip had changed him forever, she was a useful tool at first, and then a friend. But finally, after many years of close calls and bloody battles, she became something more to him. He had thought that all emotions had been drained from him, but somehow, someway, she brought them to life.

He loved her.

And he was going to bring her back, he was going to give her the one thing she had always craved.

Life.

He wasn't just a machine, not anymore. A computer brought him back to life, and it's only fair to repay the favor.

I will save you, Cortana, I made you a promise a long time ago. I can and I will keep it!"

The massive Forunner ship rises from the snow, blowing his cloak back, revealing his helmet and armor. He looks down at the dead chip in his gloved hand, and clenches it tightly.

"I'm coming".

I was inspired to write this by the upcoming Halo 5 trailer, which brought tears to my eyes and gave me shivers down my spine. I love Halo, and I adore Cortana/Master Chief shipping:) BUT let me know about your thoughts this and if i should continue with it or leave it be. Thanks for reading and please review:)
