A/N: I just thought…well, I dunno. I don't normally think. Anyways. I just absolutely adore Janaff's personality…and I didn't feel like putting up shounen-ai, so I just decided to give him a love life. No, I don't know who the lucky girl is. If you don't like OC's, then go away. But give it a chance?
Disclaimers: I don't own!!!! Anything!!! Cept the unnamed one...kinda sorta...??
……………
"Don't go…?" the soft voice seemed to chain him down to the ground, disabling his ability to fly and will to do so.
Flying away from her…it seemed the last he wanted to do.
……………
When he first left, he caught a terrified glint in the hawk's eyes. Of course, it was while they had already headed off. She looked at the brink of tears. It saddened him too much to think of the female crying, so he forced himself to push it into the back of his mind.
…
She was the first thing on his mind when they returned home to Phoenicis at warning from Zelgius.
Returning home to slaughtered brothers was about the most scarring sight he had seen. Compared to bloodstained battlefields he had witness from the war 3 years ago to the war they had been snared into now, the sight of his homeland soil spilled and saturated with blood made him wretch.
But his thoughts about her never fled. Fear to find her to the ground as well, fallen, broken. It wounded him more.
…
As they prepared to leave again, he seemed to stand, rooted to the spot, not wanting leave. He wanted, almost begged, to hear her voice pull him back again. But none came.
…
War was brutal and burdening. But the thought of her possible death at the hands of the Begnion soldiers drove him on to fight. To kill those Beorcs whom slaughtered his brothers, soiled his homeland, and doused the light that would guide him home away…that was the oil to his burning flame to fight.
…
The Goddess fell into submission at the end of the war. They returned back to Phoenicis in hope of rebuilding and restoring the power and glory taken away from their land.
Upon setting foot upon his home soil, he saw wings. Soaking in the rays of sunlight. The ever-familiar creamy beige color caught his sharp eyes. He set off without a second thought, heading towards that figure, wanting to be reassured.
Humming caught his ears, as he got even closer.
…
When she turned, time slowed to emphasize her existence. Her lovely yellow eyes, brown locks that fell to her mid back, they seemed so distant…but real. So real.
She smiled at him. And that's all he ever needed to pull him through.
…
That light guiding him home…the one he thought had been extinguished was still there. It had merely found a different path for him to follow. In the end, the destination was still the same.
His arms wrapped around her in a loving embrace, finally feeling another warmth beside him again after being so alone during that cold, cold war.
……………
His heart took flight as the chains and locks that dragged them down were released. For the first time in a long time, he felt he had the freedom to fly without fear of being shot down.
But this time...
He needed no words from her to keep him grounded.
"I told you I'd always come back." He heard himself saying for the last time.
Because he knew he'd never leave her side again.
……………
Don't kill me…please.
But now it's out of my system, thanks for reading.
Review to tell me if you loved/hated it.
Please try not to brutally flame me? Just tell me you don't like it and that I should just stick to shounen-ai.
I dislike being hated…
