Just a little one shot that I came up with. Something different. Hope you guys like it.

They Were Wrong
They say that everything happens for a reason. They say to see the good in bad things. They say to take life with a grain of salt.
They obviously never met Olivia Benson.
Olivia was my partner. My best friend. And even though I'll never get the chance to tell her, the woman who stole my heart. She was the type of person who put everyone in front of herself. She had this selfless, undying, and overwhelming need to help all of those around her. She had the type of smile that would light up an entire room, and a laugh that was beyond contagious. She was a protector, a lioness who did everything she needed to protect her cubs, the victims. She had the type of embrace that would make every-ones fears and worries disappear.
Olivia Benson was a true hero to so many people, myself included. She did what ever she had to do, no matter what that meant, even if it meant her life.
She had been feeling sick for a while, the terrible cough she had undeniable. Her breathing was often times heavy and looked worn down. I told her countless amount of times to take a day off to rest. Olivia though, she wouldn't have it. We were in the middle of this high profile case involving a group of missing children. For Olivia, finding those kids, and bringing them back unharmed, was more important than anything else. She told me it was just a cold. She was taking medicine and she would be fine. Like so many times before, even though I knew she was lying, I didn't argue with her to save myself the trouble. Now I wish I had.
We were on scene with the kids. We had found them in this old cabin outside of West Chester. Thankfully all of the kids were counted for and unharmed. Olivia was taking a statement from one of the kids when it happened. I was going over evidence with O'Halloren when I heard the crash. I turned and saw Olivia had passed out and hit her head hard on the bench the kid was sitting on. When I ran over to her she was unconscious. She stayed that way all the way to the hospital.
Severe Pneumonia. That is what the doctors said. She passed out because of the lack of oxygen she was getting since her lungs were filled up with fluids and she had a 104 fever. She should have gone to the doctor weeks ago. This could have been avoided. Those words haunt me now. I will never forgive myself for not pushing her to get checked out sooner. Maybe if I had...
She never did regain consciousness. She slipped into a coma that night and with the combination of her head injury from the fall, and the pneumonia itself, she passed away early on the next morning.
Olivia Benson gave her life to help save complete and total strangers. She gave the ultimate sacrifice for the good of the job. Olivia Benson was a true hero.
They say that everything happens for a reason. They say to see the good in bad things. They say to take life with a grain of salt.
There is no reason that she had to die. There is no good that came from her death. There is no taking her life with a grain of salt.
They were wrong.
THE END
