Elphaba and Dorothy
As Dorothy and her hen Billina wondered through the remains of The Emerald City someone else was revisiting the ruined city. It was Elphaba herself. After a long time from being away from the city a wave of memories swept over her. How she and Glinda visited the wizard and how that visit changed her life. Elphaba was hiding in an abandoned building looking out the window watching Dorothy and her hen looking at a statue of a tin man who was Boq.
Elphaba knew that she couldn't hide for long. After what had happened and how she deceived all of Oz. "No, I can't she will just run away." Elphaba said to herself. Elphaba needed to find a way to speak with Dorothy.
Elphaba then thought of a great disguise. She got two black gloves to cover her hands and a black cloth to cover her face. She then went outside to greet the girl. Outside Dorothy kept looking at the stone people. Elphaba stepped out the door and proceeded to Dorothy.
Billina alerted Dorothy to Elphaba. "Who are you?" said Dorothy frightened. "Don't worry my dear; I don't want to hurt you." Elphaba said. She then went closer to Dorothy. Dorothy also came closer to Elphaba.
The two sat on a bench and talked. "Hello there my name is Elphaba." "Hello I am Dorothy Gale. What has happened to Oz?" Dorothy asked. Elphaba didn't really have an awnser. For a long time she had been away from Oz after her "melting".
"Well you see dear there is much to talk about." Elphaba said. Elphaba stood up from the bench and faced Dorothy. Slowly she removed the black cloth that covered her green face. Dorothy then got up from the bench in shock.
"Please don't run!" Elphaba said. "But, I thought you melted away." Dorothy said. "That's what I needed tell you about." Elphaba said. The two then sat back down on the bench.
Elphaba told Dorothy everything. She told Dorothy about how Glinda and her where friends, Boq, Nessa, Fiyero, Madame Morrible and about the Wizard. Dorothy listened to every bit of it. Then Elphaba told Dorothy of her original purpose to meet The Wizard. Dorothy's views begin to change about everything.
"Ms. Elphaba." Dorothy said. "How did you melt away?" she asked. Like everything else Elphaba explained. "So that's why Scarecrow wasn't afraid of you. It was all part of your plan." Dorothy said. "Yes Dorothy, I've known all three of those men that helped you."
The two women began to hear noises coming from the silent city. Elphaba spotted a Wheeler. "Dorothy I have to go now." "But miss you just got here." Dorothy said. "I know, but listen I can never come back to OZ and if word gets out that I am back in Oz what's left of the people will come for me." Elphaba said. Elphaba grabbed her new broom and began to walk away. "Listen Dorothy, if you need me." "Look to the western sky."
Slowly the Elphaba began to float into the sky just like she had when she and Glinda had visited the Emerald City. The two women glanced at each other as Elphaba rose up into the sky. With one last look Elphaba flew away from the Emerald City. As she flew away Dorothy encountered the Wheelers. In Elphabas mind a lot of memories played as she flew over the ruined Land of Oz.
