The Trouble with Beta

It wasn't the first time that Dudley had felt almost envious as his father drove Harry down to London to catch his train; he would never have admitted this of course. Initially he had copied his father's example – declaring his cousin a freak, abnormal, wrong... but then the longing came, persistent and troubling. Why not him? Why couldn't he be the one to experience this world?

The car had driven out of sight by now and Aunt Petunia was washing dishes, he walked into the kitchen and opened the fridge. Sometimes he thought about talking to his mother about it, she always got him what he wanted-maybe she'd be able to write to the school and see if they could find him a place...but she wouldn't understand, she hated the school even more than his father did. She didn't even notice him come in; she just stood stone-faced in front of the sink gazing down the road.

Dudley took a slice of chocolate cake (thank god he wasn't still on that ridiculous diet) and picked up his laptop. He carried them up to his bedroom and shut the door behind him.

He switched on the laptop and opened up the internet, this was something he could only ever do when his father was out- the prospect of getting caught was too much to think about.

But alas, Pottermore was still on Beta, he gave a big sigh of depression, so many months now he had tried to get on but maybe Muggles like him would never be able to enter.
