Free Falling

Artemis Fowl, the second, had been coming to the attention of the League for several years now. In fact, the entire Fowl family had been under some supervision for the past couple of decades. The Fowl family had been foiled on more than one occasion, but the new change in the Fowls was entirely surprising.

Selling part of their gold reserves to raise money for orphanages? Commendable, laudable even, but it definitely surprising for the family once know for their misdeeds and callous business.

Perhaps Robin would have let this go, shrugged and went back to crime fighting in Gotham, there was only so much he could do. But the Fowls were visiting Gotham, in promotion of their new international charity. They had relatives here, who had been persuaded that it was really for their only benefit if they also left their lives of crime behind. Robin appreciated that, it was another reduction of crime statistics, though he knew the gap would soon be filled. Though, from the Fowls it was suspicious.

Very suspicious. Robin narrowed his eyes as he watched the young son of the Irish businessman walk casually into a busy night time Gotham street. Few would dare to try this without caution and regard. Pickpockets, however and more dangerous thugs, were warned openly by the huge man following Artemis's every footstep. Bodyguard, by the way his eyes moved around the street, the angle of his shoulders hiding a holster and the bulk of the man. Didn't stop the ladies of the night from cat calling, bright lights bringing more attention to their bare skin.

Artemis walked into an alleyway. Smiling, without a care.

It only made suspicion rise in Robin again. Perhaps a warning would send this young man with dubious morals into a life without crime. It could happen.

Robin leaped from the building, feeling the rush of cool air as he swung swiftly down from wire. Artemis greeted him with a nod and a too smooth grin, then he leaned forward, mouth opening, words coming out. Robin felt cold. Artemis knew more than suspected. The question remained... what to do?
