Wine-red Are My Eyes, Blood-tainted Is My Hair

Wine-red are my eyes, blood-tainted is my hair.
Wherever I wander, I see only man's stare:
A stare of apprehension, a stare of pure fright,
When he looks upon my eyes and sees only red light.
"Half-bred of a demon!" and so he would cry,
And I'd hear the doors slam from the houses near by;
Slam shut at the warning of a monster about,
Slam shut with a speed that leaves no moment for doubt.
I am alone in the village, as I've always been,
For my hair and my eyes tell them I am unclean.

My name is Sha Gojyo; there is nothing I fear
For my strength is awesome, my courage no peer.
But I have nowhere to go to, no place to call home
For I am a monster wherever I roam.
Wine-red are my eyes, blood-tainted is my hair;
Red eyes for I weep when I see man's stare:
A stare of apprehension, a stare of pure fright,
When he looks upon my hair and sees only a red night.
And I'm alone in the world, as I've always been,
For my hair and my eyes proclaim I am unclean.
