Gaara used to have a little teddy bear. Nobody except his siblings knew. Yashamaru did; but Gaara killed him. His father, by all means should've known. But then again, he wasn't much of a father.
The day Gaara killed Yashamaru, was the day the bear was drenched in blood. Gaara left it behind; Temari saw it as a symbolization of his now-destroyed innocence.
Temari never told anyone, but she kept the bear. She would hold it, when she thought no-one was looking, and she even slept with it. She locked her door of course; it would destroy her Tomboy image if that information got out.
She kept it, as it inspired hope and remained as a constant reminder. As long as the teddy was alive, Temari felt that Gaara could change. It reminded her, that Gaara was once a human. A far from ordinary, but sane and nowhere near psychotic; lonely boy, someone Temari constantly told herself still existed.
Every time she sees her little brother crush someone into a pulp; a bit of her hope, dies.
