Peace...
Peace was something many people generally took for granted. Of course, it was all unintentional, though the misfortune came when it took perilous moments for the common folk to realize just how much merit that tranquility actually holds.
There was, however, one person who didn't seem to take too much peace for granted. Despite him being quite peculiar compared to most others and naturally free-spirited, peace was something he cherished as he just took his life day by day.
Heavy rain was falling upon one single island out in the middle of the wide, vast ocean. Said island in itself was an entire rainforest. Hundreds of thousands of organisms (some known and some not) resided in the area surrounded by moist trees, bushes, branches, as well as long thick and thin vines.
On these vines, a small boy came along, using them as monkeys would swing off branches. Regardless of how dangerous it would be for any other child to do such daring things, this was absolutely nothing for the kid. He would let go of a vine or branch that happened to be over 30 yards away from the next he planned to latch onto. With the great momentum he had going on, he could be going much farther.
"Hah!"
With one final grab and release, he descended down until he came upon a thick branch and placed his back up against the bark of the tree. Closing his eyes for a split second, he took in the sounds of the heavy rain falling down on him and let in a heavy, deep breath. The ambiance of the place was soothing and relaxing and he found it to be an extreme comfort during his training.
This kid was Son Goku, who was born approximately fourteen years ago. He himself didn't even know the exact time he was born and happened to forget just around which month he was told to age up by his late Grandpa. Without that knowledge, he simply logically assumed that he rose up another number at the end of each year.
A brown, furry monkey-like tail attached to the Coccyx area of his body came down and got a hold of two small little fruits. He tossed them up and snatched them with his hands to lead the fruits in his mouth at the same time. The sweet, delicious juicy fruit was good though still not enough to maintain his hunger.
He had a little frown on his face as he rubbed his belly. Not just a few miles away from him, he could just go and snatch up some animals in their nests to eat them, though they still wouldn't even suffice to satisfy his hunger.
As calm and naive as he seemed to be at the current moment, being mindful of his surroundings was something that always had to be accounted for, especially in an environment like this. Goku's little frown turned into a smirk the moment he realized that a perfect meal couldn't have come at a better time.
With a motion so quick that even his assailant couldn't see, Goku knocked the giant anaconda behind him out with one hard elbow right in the face. Before he could lose a certain meal, Goku made sure to wrap his tail around its neck so he could have a sure grip on it so it wouldn't fall.
He lifted up the long and thick snake and licked his lips once he realized he got his supper for the evening. Standing up on the branch, he began to wrap the anaconda and put its own body in loops with ease so he could be sure that it had no chance in hell to flee.
"Got another one!"
Nothing was looked more forward to by Son Goku when it came to food or training. And if he had to decide, it would most likely be the former on more occasions. With the unconscious anaconda in hand, he began to swing around the place on vines until he could find a perfect spot to eat his meal.
As mentioned, peace was something that the majority of common folk happened to take for granted, albeit not purposely. Although there were people who appreciated moments of tranquility, there were beings who just couldn't go by weeks without some form of havoc and calamity.
Some people like this existed on Earth but unbeknownst to them, there were far worse people out there on other worlds that most, if not all, didn't even know happened to exist.
Completely foreign to Earth and its citizens, a circular round ball was making way towards the round colorful planet many times faster than a meteor. A raging fire was just beneath it as the little ship was getting closer and closer to the planet. However, the technology and structure of the object of transportation was much more advanced than anything else in the universe by far and remained unaffected by the fire.
No safety precautions were taken, nor did they need to be taken for landing. As it entered the atmosphere, the person inside was able to take a little look of what the planet seemed to look like so far. Blue skies, white clouds and he saw a fleeting glimpse of multiple intact cities from afar. Such a sight had elicited a displeased scoff from his mouth.
Once the pod landed in the Greenlands of the area, a big shock resonated the entire vicinity. Such impact with no signs of lacking momentum was to leave a gaping crater in the middle of the area, as expected.
Once the dust settled, the locks for the round pod opened and allowed him to exit. He grabbed onto the outer surface of his ship and took his first steps out on this planet. A brush of cool air breezed against his soft skin all the while being hit by a good bit of heat.
No other planet had him feel so nostalgic to his home in a while, especially within just touching foot there in a matter of seconds. As the feeling of missing home was there, the thoughts were quickly gone with as he had an objective to carry out.
The foreign male ascended off the ground for a split second and touched down. Standing there, he decided to get a better look of the area. Everything seemed so cool and nice. The weather was nice, the atmosphere seemed to be left unharmed and left in peace. No signs of ruin or utter turmoil within the area.
His straight face turned into an aggravated frown. "Could it be that you didn't carry out your mission...Kakarot?" As he was just getting ready to click a button attached to a green device that was over his left eye, he heard a hard engine making way towards him out in the distance.
He squinted his eyes, the feeling of suspicion arising within. Whenever foreigners approached him on any other world, he would just blow them away without any warning, though sometimes he preferred to take a different approach, unlike his comrades.
Inside the blue truck was a mean-faced man with a scar and bumps on his face as on the passenger side was a worried wife who made sure to keep their curious son in the back seat so he didn't have to see anything too obscene (if there was). They had all heard the explosion a few miles away and figured it best to come and check it all out.
Out from the driver's seat, the chunky male came out with a loaded rifle in hand. Never before had something too odd take place around his spacious land, so it needed to be dealt with just in case things were bad.
He looked at the figure standing ahead of him, who remained completely stationary. Despite the odd armor and long, unkempt ridiculous set of hair, the look of utter indifference from this stranger worried the farmer and so he aimed his gun at the person. "What the hell are you doing here?"
Oh, one of those people.
The foreigner already saw where this was going and just cut through the bullshit. "If you were smart, you'd put down your useless weapon and just do me one favor."
"Why should I do you a favor when yer on my property? I have animals to take care of and you've just made a ruin behind yourself! I should have shot you on sight."
"No, you shouldn't have and it'd be best you don't now," the young man replied. "You see, sure enough, that hindered survival instinct inside you was subconsciously telling you, no, don't kill him, or it can turn out ugly. Listen to that voice and just do me one favor and nothing bad will come of you or those two over there...for now, that is..."
"Was that a threat?"
The long-haired male sighed. It was obvious by this point that this naive old man didn't see him as a force to be messed with due to the fact that he more than likely looked like some other common Earthling but with a weird attire. It seemed like he wouldn't get anything out of this one.
"Yes..." he started to walk forward. "I suppose so..."
"You better stay back!"
"Or what..."
The man grit down on his teeth. He didn't want to pull the trigger and just end up killing somebody. But, he did ruin a large piece of his property and seemed to be threatening him. If anything, whatever happened next would all be in self-defense.
BANG!
The bullet came flying directly for his target. Said target didn't appear worried at all. Now he was going to have a little fun and just show off what line was just crossed. Opening his mouth for a split second, he caught the bullet directly between his teeth.
"A-Ah..." the gun dropped down to the ground and went off suddenly. The next bullet came flying by at a much lower trajectory. Said bullet was kicked up by the tip of the mysterious male's boot and caught.
"As I said...useless." He blew the first bullet between his teeth directly at the farmer, getting a perfect headshot. He watched as the farmer remained on his two feet, eyes wide and shaking prior to falling over on his side.
Loud screams came from inside the truck, none other than by the mother, of course. She was in a state of shock and it traumatized her confused child, who was just staring blankly at his father's lifeless body. And with the tragic having taken place, the man who caused his death only managed to find amusement in it.
He rubbed the other bullet between his fingers, staring wickedly at the woman. Before she could get her act together, grab her child and escape, the last bullet was saved for her. Next thing the child in the back seat of the truck knew, a hole fleeted right through their window and right through his mother's cranium. Her head fell over to the side and she went slouching down on dead weight.
Not knowing how to respond to this, the kid was just frozen, face full of tears with no audible coming out of his mouth. He watched as the evil man came closer and closer to the truck that he was in. The closer he got the more he just felt like whimpering in fear. Said fear was exactly what this sadistic savage seemed to feed off of and he appeared to love it, too.
"Brat, you're luckier than me," the killer started as he raised his hand up above his head. "You get to rejoice with your family much quicker than I. Take it however you want, bad or good, but just know you've got it better." With no more words spoken, the entire truck and everything in it was reduced to absolutely nothing by one single fire of attack.
With all of that finally settling, he could get back to what he initially needed to do. "Since none of these alien cretins seems to be in a generous mood today, looks like I have to do it all myself, as per usual." He clicked the device over his left eye, which began to beep out loud constantly. There were numbers and codes that were left only for him to understand as random things continued to pop up.
PEEEP
He clicked the device so the last reading could remain still. "Power-level of 77 a few thousand kilometers of here. Maybe it's you, Kakarot." With his hopes having been raised, he was now also beginning to have questions surfacing. With a bright flash of light, he took off quickly.
"Hiya! Hiya!"
At an island very far away from the inner and even outer cities of the world, an old man watched over as two younger people sparred with one another in a gi that represented his form of training. The old man watching over was famously known as the Great Muten Roshi, one of the best of the very best when it came to Martial Arts expertise. For years he had been out of retirement until he just very recently took in two trainees: Goku and Krillin. Just when he thought he'd re-start and finish with those two, another young man with the ambition to get better in the art of fighting by the name of Yamcha joined as well.
"Stay quick on your feet, Krillin! Use your head, Yamcha!" As he watched over the two spar with weighted turtle shells on their back, Roshi would constantly give out pointers to the both of them. Whenever he caught either slacking, even just a little bit, he made sure to correct them immediately.
"Those two have really gotten better, haven't they?"
Roshi looked down at the talking turtle just by his foot and nodded in response. The old man put his hands behind his back and had a nice little chill run through his spine. As long as he remembered, the years went by faster and faster. Even though Roshi himself couldn't die of old age, time was fleeting, nevertheless. It was a blessing and a curse. What he liked about it was seeing his students grow and he just couldn't wait until the next Tenkaichi Budokai so he could see just how much everyone has truly progressed.
"Yes, indeed, they have..."
Tap Tap
Roshi looked over his shoulders to which he was greeted by a tray of cold ice team by none other than his associate Launch. "Ohhh!" his face lightened up. "You shouldn't have!"
Only when Launch was on her good side did she ever voluntarily do such things, such as cook meals and give tea. Whenever she wasn't around Kame House, she was out hanging out with Bulma or doing other things she claims to not recollect, unless her other conscience blatantly tells her criminal deeds out loud.
"Don't mention it!"
Roshi put down a glass of tea on the ground with a straw in it so turtle could sip on it a little bit as he drunk from his own glass. He and the others just watched Krillin and Yamcha go back and forth for the meanwhile.
Yamcha attempted to catch Krillin off guard with a series of quick punches to the face. He grazed the younger fighter a couple of times but Krillin used his extremely small size to his own advantage and remained nimble all throughout, just barely avoiding any of the attacks given him. He swatted away a kick from Yamcha, hopped off the ground and kicked his sparring partner right across the cheek.
Yamcha went sliding over across the little beach, the tip of his hair being dipped into the water. He remained there and let out a relaxing sigh once the cool water touched his heated scalp. He and Krillin had been at it for hours now, honing their own technique. It wasn't even about getting super strong now. Roshi didn't have any other special regimen for them to increase their own strength so he simply advised the two to refine their techniques and fighting skills. He understood that surpassing Goku was constantly on their minds but comparing yourself to someone who is just naturally gifted and more than likely to stay higher than you will only push you down further in the end.
"What's wrong, Yamcha? Give up?"
"Eh...I'm just enjoying the nice water, you know..."
"Master, by tournament rules, a ten-second count means the fallen fighter loses." He walked over by Yamcha and put his foot over his peer's chest. "So I win."
Yamcha grabbed Krillin by his leg and tossed the little guy into the water. He quickly jumped back onto his two feet and chuckled as Krillin made a big splash. "Yeah, so you thought, kiddo."
Krillin came back from under the water, not at all happy that Yamcha just fooled him. "Not. Cool."
"But you sure are, huh?" Yamcha asked, laughing out loud, alongside Roshi, Turtle, and Launch.
Krillin wiped his eyes and looked up above in the sky as he felt a shadow just fly directly over him. "What the?"
Everyone watched as this mysterious figure stopped just above them all and looked down at the area prior to eventually descending down onto land. Yamcha was put off by the presence of this man, as well as Roshi and Turtle. Launch was just left there, confused.
"Do you guys know him?" she asked.
Everyone shook their heads in response.
The man looked at everyone and was disappointed by the results he had gotten. Just a few minutes of flying here and he didn't manage to find whom he hoped to. "None of you are Kakarot."
"Just, ehm..." Roshi cleared his throat. "Who are you?"
"Raditz," the young man replied. "Mind answering a question of mine?"
The uneasy aura surrounding him had Roshi nervous. As he couldn't entirely sense all the power from this person, he didn't want to remotely consider provoking him, not in the slightest. "Sure..." he said, making sure to remain cool, "how can I help you?"
Raditz's lips curled into a little smirk. Just about time someone would rather indulge him rather than go the unnecessary route. "I'm looking for a young person by the name of Kakarot. Would you happen to know where he might be?"
"Kaka-what?" Yamcha asked. He walked by the young person's side and looked him up and down. "Who's that?"
Raditz glared at Yamcha, nonverbally telling the man to back off. Such encroachment of his space wasn't something he took kindly to and Yamcha immediately got the message, to which he simply took a few steps back for.
"I'm sorry," Roshi told him, "the name doesn't ring any bells."
Raditz clenched his jaw and crossed his arms. He didn't plan on scouring the entire freaking planet just to find one person. Sure enough, some group of people would have to have met Kakarot sometime in the past, especially given his nature for what he is. Raditz had it pegged out that especially the stronger people on the planet would be familiar with the boy's presence on this world.
"Are you sure you haven't met him before?" Raditz prodded further. "Really...dig deep into your head. As strong as you are, you never came across an abnormal boy that may potentially be stronger than yourself?"
"Hey, maybe he's talking about Goku!" Krillin chirped up. He came out from the water and walked over to the taller man. Raditz was put off by the name. Goku? He wanted to laugh at it. The name was not at all anything similar to what he was suggesting earlier. Krillin began to communicate with him, moving his hands all around. "Is he short, has weird hair, and maybe a tail?"
Raditz's brow rose at the mentioning of a tail. "Looks like I'm getting onto something then."
"So you do mean Goku, right?" Yamcha asked.
"Just how many people do you know happens to have a brown furry tail like this?" Raditz uncoiled what seemed to be a belt at first glance from around his waist. Once everyone caught a glimpse and actually looked over it, the tail appeared just about identical to the one Goku had.
"Yeah, just like that!" Krillin exclaimed.
"Whoah!" Yamcha's jaw was almost to the floor. "I really thought Goku was the only person who had a tail on this world."
"If you're all speaking of the same person I am thinking about, then get that stupid name out of your heads. His name isn't Goku, it's Kakarot. Also, he isn't from this world. Where is he?"
Total silence took over the area. The waves of the water crashing onto the island took over as well as the sounds of seagulls communicating and flying away. Raditz was comfortable in the awkward moment of quiet but he didn't like it by any means at all. Roshi and everyone else was put off by his aggressive presence.
"A..." Launch felt something coming onto her, to which her head began to cock back.
"Oh no!"
It was just the worst moment for this to happen right about now. Things felt a bit tense now and Launch had a knack for being quite intense herself, only when she was at a bad conscience. "ACHOO!"
The blue hair that she had gone totally yellow and her round eyes became narrow. She had changed from a seemingly naive pure girl to an uptight chick. The tray she had in her hands fell down to the ground. The first person she caught eye of was Raditz and she was left confused.
"Who the hell is this buffoon?"
Raditz was left speechless momentarily at what he just witnessed. In all 19 years of his life, he had seen many things, though nothing as odd as this. "I don't think I need to repeat myself. Just tell me where the hell Kakarot is." Now he was beginning to get impatient. With his rising impatience was the rising need to just kill everyone on this beach and continue his own little search. He came here to recruit, not interact.
Roshi knew it best to just tell the guy rather than piss him off. "He's..."
"And who do you think you're talking to like that?" Launch asked, getting up in his face. "We don't know any Kakarunt so just kick rocks, will ya?"
Raditz hid a growl in his voice. Where he was from, it's quite normal to have a bad temper but he wanted to maintain control for the time being. Despite not yelling at the woman a need for teaching her who's boss was there. Launch was smacked right across the face and sent sliding right into Roshi's arms. He could have done much worse but figured she could be used as a demonstration to not test.
"Launch!" Yamcha went running over to the unconscious female, worried.
"Don't worry, I've got her," Roshi said.
Krillin stood directly by Raditz, ready to fight if necessary. The long-haired male could see the little bald ready to get down out of the corner of his eyes. But by the reading he had received from Krillin earlier, he wouldn't even manage to entertain him.
Raditz clicked the device over his left eye and continued to wait for a better reading. "Try anything else and you fools just might regret it." Waiting for a reading to appear on his scouter, he clicked once he got the highest number yet.
"Heh. A power-level of 85 just 7,500 kilometers from here." He knew with that reading that it just had to be the person he was hoping to find. "That must be you, Kakarot."
Roshi watched as Raditz took off into the skies, gone within a blink of the eye.
"H-He..." Krillin was at a total loss for words. He didn't think things could happen to escalate so quickly. He looked over to Launch, then back to Yamcha, who had the same hysterical expression plastered all over.
Roshi grinded his teeth at the current situation. He had a feeling that the man was going to head off after Goku but he himself didn't have any idea just where Goku even was. All he and the others could do was hope that things would turn out to be for the very best.
The rain had calmed down quite a bit but Goku knew that it'd only be a matter of time before things got even worse. He went under a covered area that he had built out of leaves, vines, and branches so he could keep his fire from being splashed away by the rainwater.
The anaconda he had was cooked and so Goku had been feasting ever since. By the near-empty stomach he had just moments ago, Goku felt that he could at the very least eat four more.
The time was going by much quicker and quicker and it was only a matter of time until it became nightfall. Tomorrow as soon as he woke up, he'd commence his day with a meal and then go onto spend his entire afternoon training and exploring more of the rainforest prior to heading out to a different area. Still, Goku got excited at the mere thought of participating in the next Tenkaichi Budokai.
Last time, he barely lost against the Masterful Jackie Chun, someone he was definitely looking forward to having his rematch against. He had gotten much stronger over the past year and a half. Sure enough, that old man must have gotten stronger, too. For Goku, nothing was more fun than the thought of fighting an opponent just about on par with him in skill and strength.
The kid was kicked out from his daydream once his ears instinctually perked up due to him hearing rustling within the area. Goku got out from under his little nature made tent to check out just what was going on.
Looking over to an area with nothing but bushes, he heard the branches snap and more rustling of the same bushes. Out finally appeared the same young man who spotted the very person he happened to be looking for.
"Kakarot..." he smiled. "I've finally found you."
This is a story request done by somebody. He gave me the idea and I'm just running with it. Hope you all enjoyed the first chapter.
