WovenFromMoonlight: Hello people! This is WovenFromMoonlight with the first Hunger Games story that I have wrote! This is a collab that I did with Griffin Wish, so shoutout to her! Please go check her fanfictions out, it's really cool! I hope you enjoy this chapter!
Disregard the later two books in the series, as this story will be very, umm… *Whispers* How do we explain this to our readers?
Griffin Wish: Dunno, let's pretend we didn't say anything… *Turns to readers* You don't know ANYTHING! IT WAS NOTHING I TELL YOU!
WovenFromMoonlight: Okay? Sheesh Griffin Wish, you don't have to yell at them!
One more thing. In the book, Katniss admits that the 'kisses' were for the camera. In this story, the love between Katniss and Peeta is genuine.
DISREGARD THE SECOND AND THIRD BOOK!
Vote on which one you like better: Katniss and Gale or Katniss and Peeta.
Poll ends when the third chapter is published!
I'm so sorry! One more thing! I promise!
Some characters will be OOC, it's only part of the plot.
Katniss POV
"Peeta!" I cried exasperated.
"Please? One more?" Peeta whined. The clear, blue eyes were trained into my eyes. He was giving me the puppy eyes. I groaned, knowing that I can't escape this time. Moments later, I stood up, and almost fell over because of the moving train.
"Whoa there!" Peeta laughed, catching me, "No need to be so clumsy."
"Not my fault." I grumbled as I stood up. Peeta's blue eyes met mine, and they burned with a firey passion.
"Katniss! Peeta! Dinner!"
I rolled my eyes at the sound of Effie's voice. Oh, how it made me cringe inside. Peeta and I walked out the door, where we were attacked by a very enthusiastic Effie.
"Remember that the Victory Tour will be soon! Remember to move into the Victors Village!" Effie trilled. I rolled my eyes, thinking about how dim Effie's brain can be.
Maybe she got it altered, trying to make her look 'smart' my mind mused, and a wave of bright lights hit me. Spots danced in my eyes, until they adjusted to the bright light. An entire cart of food came to view, filled with sandwiches, cake, and salad. Another cart rolled in from the other side, full of drinks like wine, soda, sparkling cider, sparkling water, and water.
My stomach rebelled at the sight of all the heavy food. Ugh, it made me sick. I took some salad and water, and trudged back into the room, Peeta coming in moments later.
"I really, really hate all the Capitol food they have." Peeta muttered as we ate, "It tastes like trying to make a cake backwards."
I cracked up instantly, thinking of the time I tried to walk backwards on ice.
"Peeta, there's something that has been on mind that I need to tell you." I started, and he nodded his head, the curls of his blond hair slightly bouncing, "When I found you camouflaged, why did you call me sweetheart? I know you love me, but…"
Peeta cut me off, "I called you because of two reasons. One, I love you. Two, whether I lived or not, I will always call you sweetheart."
I smiled slightly, and we finished dinner in silence. The plates were cleared away, and I pulled out Cinna's notebook.
"I have some ideas for the Victory Tour dresses, as well as some for your little sister and mother. Let me know what you think of these." he said. I flipped through the notebook, thinking about the different designs, the colors, the ones that Prim would like, the ones that my mother would like. I thought about…
What if? Is it possible?
"Peeta, look at this." I gasped when I saw one dress. It was at the very back, the most simple.
Cinna made notes on the side, notes that told me what it is supposed to be.
A wedding dress.
A white, simple, elegant, sleeveless dress that had a full skirt. The top had a small bit of lace, and everything else had small pearls dotting it. There was a sketch on the side, sketch of a veil. It was similar. It was designed to not cover the face, but to be connected to a tiara.
"Katniss…" Peeta breathed, not able to finish his sentence. I knew it was this would drive him crazy. He wanted me to be his wife. I would gladly agreed, but…
Gale.
I had spent most of my childhood with him, but he was like a brother to me. I had to make a choice.

"Katniss, I've been thinking." Peeta's voice cut across my thoughts, "Even at our young age, would you marry someone?"
"I don't know. I feel as if something is missing, but I have a problem right now, between two people. I don't know who to choose. I feel so clueless." I confessed.
"Katniss, if there is a problem, I will always try to help you and stay by your side." Peeta assured, but he couldn't help me.
"Peeta, you can't really help me because… because" my voice broke, "It involves you."
Peeta's perfect features turned into shock, "Katniss, is it…"
"No, I'm just having a tough decision. I'm not sure if I can make the right choice." I cried. Peeta pulled me into a hug, and the embrace was comforting. The night was slowly creeping in as the train huffed it's way to District Twelve.
Peeta and I kept looking through Cinna's drawings, but this time observing them.
"Oh darn. I forgot something." I heard Peeta mutter, and he brought out a notebook that was similar to mine, but with drawings for Peeta. We flipped through the drawings as one, and I came across one that would be perfect for District Eleven. I looked through mine, and it turned out that the matches between the dress and the suit were on the same page on each notebook.
I turned to the 17th page, and I didn't realize that the dress was the exact same one that Rue wore. I was shocked, as the golden dress was the original.
"We need to honor Rue and Thresh. We wouldn't be here if it wasn't for them." I whispered to Peeta, but I felt like something was wrong.
"What if the citizens mistake it as mocking?" Peeta inquired, and I stopped short.
"We will announce it is for their honor." I answered, and night slowly fell. I was so tired after that I didn't notice that Peeta put me in his bed. I didn't have nightmares that night, only to realize that I slept with Peeta in the morning.
"Morning Katniss." Peeta yawned. I stirred at his voice and looked to see him propped up on his elbow. I glanced at the windows, and there was no light filtering through it.
"Peeta, it's not sunrise." At that, I fell asleep again. Soon, a dreamless second sleep came upon me, relaxing me for the first time after we got out of the arena.
"This is a big, big, big, BIG day! Hurry and wake up!" Effie chirped through the door. I groaned, and pulled my pillow over my head.
"C'mon Katniss." Peeta coaxed, and I opened my eyes grudgingly. I wanted to sleep more. I wanted to stay with Peeta (I did not just say that…) I climbed out of bed, only just realizing that Peeta was already up. I stepped into my room, the outfit that Cinna prepared for me was lying on the bed, ready to be used. It looked like a mockingjay, the symbol people used to define me as. The one I wore in the arena, but it was updated to look more warm and opening.
The shower automatically turned on when I stepped in, and I stabbed the buttons blindly and hopped around as warm and cold streams hit my body. I finally managed to fully wake up when a jet of freezing water hit my face. It was oddly satisfying, helping me to creep through the early morning. As the blow dryer was drying my hair, I thought about Gale, how he was cheering for District Twelve. I thought about Prim, my mom, how happy they will be when I return home. I thought about the victor's system, where the winning district will be supplied food for one month, each person receiving a small food parcel per day.
I shoved the mockingjay suit on, and realized Peeta would be wearing the same thing.
Yeah, really thought it well, I though, sarcasm woven into the words. I stepped out of the room to hear Peeta calling my name.
"Peeta, what have you gotten yourself into this time?" I asked, rolling my eyes.
"I can't reach the zipper." Peeta mumbled, trying to get to the zipper, halfway up. I pulled the zipper up for him, and I was rewarded with a surprise kiss.
"Big, big, big, big day! You will be home in a few hours!" Effie trilled, and I really wanted to kill her right then and there.
"Effie, you should shut up." Peeta suggested.
Pffft!
I couldn't help myself. It was too funny. If only I caught it on those things called cameras. I finished breakfast faster than I thought, and as soon as I stood up, Peeta stood up, even though he didn't finish.
"I want to spend some time with you before all the mayhem." he claimed. His blue eyes trained into mine, slowly making me his Katniss Everdeen.
"Have you ever thought about your future?" Peeta suddenly asked when we were in his compartment.
"I have, but it might have been possible if the Hunger Games didn't happen." I said, looking out the window. From the slight reflection, I saw pain flash through his eyes. I knew what I had done. Peeta thinks that I wish I didn't meet him, which was his childhood dream.
"All the thoughts I have for the future are with you. If you really regret meeting me…"
I could hear the heavy pain in his voice.
"Peeta, I didn't mean it that way." I turned to face him, moving closer. I rested my head over his heart, putting my hand on the other side of his chest. Peeta held on to me like he was never going to let me go. I still saw pain in his eyes, but it subsided slowly.
"When I was younger, I would come home everyday and ask my dad if I had the chance to marry you. He always was patient, and everyday, he would tell me that I had a chance, and something that was good about me. Those words were never repeated. One day, I came home with a drawing of a cake, and I asked my dad if he would make the cake for our wedding. My mom suddenly barged in, and tore the paper up. She told me I couldn't marry you because you were from the Seam. I told her that I would get you to notice me, or talk to me. But my mom still said that you weren't good enough. I need to prove her wrong." Peeta recalled. I was touched by his words, that he still had some pain, hidden.
Am I really not good enough?
Katniss Everdeen, you stop this right now. You are the winner of the Hunger Games. You are a national champion. You fulfilled Prim's wish.
Two sides of my brain battled against each other, hitting harder and harder.
"Betrayal." I spoke aloud, without warning. I had recalled the sense of sadness that had washed over me when I saw Peeta with the Careers. It was hurtful, pain beone the soul. I didn't realize that I had taken a liking in Peeta at that time.
"I'm sorry Katniss."
Peeta was acting really fidgety, strange.
Peeta POV
How will I keep Katniss near me? Did my memory sharing touch her enough for her to not go to Gale? I didn't know what to. Well, I kind of know.
I know this sounds selfish and strange, but I wanted to prove to Gale, my mom, and Katniss herself that she is mine.
"We are here!" Effie called.
"Just shut up already!" Katniss yelled. I could see something wrong. I could just feel this sense of anger, anxiety, and harsh willpower to just skewer Effie with an arrow. I could imagine Katniss ready to just pull out her bow.
"Peeta, are we still going to be 'star crossed' or just real lovers?" Katniss asked.
"Just do the thing from the arena. It will be alright." I squeezed her hand, causing a smile to grace her lips. I loved that smile (and her scowl. I did not just say that…)
Peeta, be confident. Show Gale that Katniss is yours. Be prepared. Show that you really love her.
As soon as we stepped out of the train, cameras flashed, people cheered. I remembered my plan, and held her hand like a lifeline.
"Katniss!"
Gale pushed his way to the front, and discreetly shoved me out of the way, giving my Katniss a hug. She looked at me, keeping the lovers thing going on.
"Gale, get away from Katniss." I ordered, my tone a bit cold.
"Why should I? Katniss was mine from the start." Gale sneered, but no one other than us noticed.
"I was never yours. I will never be." Katniss growled, her hands creeping up to her bow and arrows. Katniss drew an arrow from the quiver threateningly, and pointed it at Gale. The crowd gasped.
"Katniss! Put those away!" I whispered franticly.
She payed no attention, "You think so Gale? We'll see about that."
Katniss nocked an arrow, the tip just inches away from his undefended chest. Gale ran, fire shooting out of his eyes. Not literally, thankfully. I noticed Katniss was following his path with her arrow, debating whether or not to shoot him. I put my hand on her wrist, and her anger suddenly defused. Maybe for the cameras, maybe real, maybe both.
"Let's go to Victor's Village." Katniss spoke, her voice still having lingering traces of anger. I walked away from the party of people trying to follow us, and I kept a tight grip on Katniss, or more like walking with her pulled into a hug.
Should I stop rambling?
Yeah, sorry about that.
"Katniss!"
Her face instantly lit up when her little sister Prim ran to Katniss. I envied the amazing relationship she had with her sister.
"Looks like the brat made it through the Hunger Games. Now he's staring at the girl he loved, hoping she will save him."
"Shut up Trey." I snapped. Trey was my oldest brother, at the age of 25. He has taken a job as a obedience teacher for children. All the kids hate him, and he thinks that everyone likes him.
My other brother, Caspian, is the complete opposite. Only at age 20, he got a job working at the Justice Building, working as the treasurer. The money was well managed and well used, but there was always not enough.
"Trey, don't be mean. Peeta survived the Hunger Games. It was a terrible ordeal." Caspian sighed. I didn't get how we kept on dealing with this. I felt Caspian stuff a package into my quiver, and I knew what it was.
"Caspian, I need to go to Katniss." I called as I walked away.
"Peeta!" Katniss cried when she saw me. I saw Prim give me the purest, most innocent smile. I pulled out the package that Caspian gave me, unwrapping it. Katniss and Prim gasped in surprise.
"Cheese buns! No wonder it smelled so good!" Prim cried. I offered it to Prim first, who enthusiastically accepted it, and devoured it. I gave the other to Katniss, who gave it to Prim. As Prim eats it as well, I couldn't help feel guilty. Katniss and I have been eating rich food, while the other Everdeens had little to eat. Katniss was laughing at Prim's delight, how Prim was eating so well for this moment. I smiled as well, seeing that her malnutritioned sister got well fed at last.
"Katniss, Peeta, how long does it take for you to get the fact that we are supposed to get into Victor's Village?!" Effie shrilled.
"Family is more important, Effie Trinket." Katniss snapped, "I thought you knew that."
Her smile faded, but it returned moments later, "Hurry up already!"
"Prim, go tell Mom to meet me at Victor's Village okay?" Katniss requested. Prim nodded, and ran off.
"Katniss, let's go."
Katniss and I walked through the town, only occasionally bumping into a camera. I think we saw Gale once or twice, but I think I was going crazy at the point.
"Katniss! Peeta!"
I heard Mrs. Everdeen calling from a distance, waving at us from Victor's Village.
"Katniss, I need to go to the bakery to get my dad, brothers, and mom. I will see you in the house closest to yours. Or do you want to live together?" I teased. Katniss have me a little smile, and I kissed her, "I'll see you later."
I gave her one smile, and headed in the opposite direction, toward the bakery.
So that is all that will be in this chapter! I hope you all enjoyed this! Please review! Griffin Wish, do you have anything to say?
