DISCLAIMER: I OWN NOTHING COMIC BOOK RELATED.
A/N - some curse words in here. Sorry if I gets a bit fluffy and/or cliché. M rated for safety. Rate and review would be nice, tell me what I'm doing wrong! Or if I should carry on etc. Just to clarify - Green Lantern is DCI Hal Jordan, Batman is DCI Bruce Wayne, Wonder Woman is a school teacher, Superman is Dr. Kent, I'll be bringing in more members (no not that kind of member) later on.
"Stop! Stop running!"
"Hal there's no point, do you really think he's going to stop on your command?" Hal cursed under his breath, Bruce was right. A crazed serial killer wasn't going to stop for him. He was just started to feel frustrated. They'd been chasing Jack Napier for over 3 years and literally chasing him for over an hour. Hal's lungs were burning and his legs were aching. He didn't feel as though he could kept this up for much longer. The only thing keeping him from collapsing on the floor was the thought of finally catching the maniac just within his grasp.
It was raining. Lightly, but it still managed to coat everything in a slick layer of water. It was dark as well, the alleyways were hidden under a black cloak. Streaks of moonlight provided the only light source. Upon turning a corner, Hal slipped on a wet manhole cover. As he fell to the floor, a great roar escaped from his lungs. It was a mixture of anger, frustration and now pain. He was sure he'd broken something. "Hal!" Bruce called out.
"I'll be fine Bruce. Just catch the bastard." Bruce nodded, despite the fact it was too dark for Hal to see and register the nod, and bounded after Napier. Hal involuntarily let out a sob but soon clasped his hands over his mouth in an attempt to suppress his cries. Napier had shot his brother James. Hal had vowed to bring his killer to justice.
Diana was driving home from Washington. She'd visited her grandmother for the weekend. She was driving down 48th Street when she saw a man doubled over in the alleyway. She brought the car to a stop and debated getting out of the car. The right thing to do was to help the guy out, but this was an alleyway in Brooklyn. After a minute or so of hesitation she decided to go check it out.
Hal's leg was on fire, he was quietly sobbing from my the pain. "Hey." a voice almost whispered, Hal immediately looked up. "Who are you? What do you want?" He managed through gritted teeth. "Well...I'm Diana, are you alright?"
"Not particularly." He replied bitterly.
"Do you need some help?" She offered stepping forward. "What's your name?"
"Hal. I think I might have broken my leg." He said, finally giving in.
"Oh God. Let me take you to the hospital or something. Can you stand on your other leg?"
"That's not necessary I just need-"
"I am not going to leave you there with a broken leg. Sure in a suburban but not in a grimy alleyway. Here I'm help you up, stand on your good leg." Diana managed to support Hal and walk him to her car. Why was she bothering to help this guy? She was sure if the boot was on the other foot a passer by would have left her for dead. She had a conscience, unlike a lot of people.
