Prologue

April walked into Donnie's lab to ask him a question. When she got there, she saw him sitting at his desk writing something on a scrap piece of paper. She was going to talk to him, but something held her back. He looked so sad while he was writing. He sighed and put down the pencil he was using, then walked out of the lab. April hid out of his way. She figured that whatever was on that piece paper could tell her what was the matter with Donatello, and she figured that he wouldn't want her looking at it. She picked up the paper and read it over. [sorry, author intrusion. If you want to know what it says, read the fic: "What am I" by iiCookiee. I didn't think it would be right to copy it into my fanfiction] So this is what was bugging Donnie. She shook her head, well she'd give him an answer; he deserved one. She picked up the pencil Donnie had left on the desk and started writing.

Dear Donnie,

What are you?

You're a scientist, you're a dreamer.

You're a genius.

You have a brilliant mind and can fix just about anything.

What are you?

You're a kind heart.

You're a listening ear.

You're a shoulder to cry on.

What are you?

You're a ninja.

You hide in the shadows, though not of your own choosing.

You beat up baddies and save the world.

You catch me when I fall.

What are you?

You're a turtle.

You're patient (most of the time).

You're durable.

You're reliable.

What are you?

You're a teenager.

You're confused.

You're curious.

You're wondering about your place in the world.

What are you?

You're the turtle that I love,

With your gap-toothed smile and science talk.

You are Donatello,

This is what you are.

She folded it with a side saying: "To Donnie" and left on his desk where he would be sure to see it. Then she left the lab, sure that she would cheer him up.
