Hey guys, this is my first HP fanfic. The story is all about when James Potter first came to Hogwarts. There aren't too many of these stories, and I'm going to to try and keep this story as accurate and realistic as possible.
I own NOTHING!
Mom ruffled my hair lovingly. "Jamie! Don't forget to write to us! If you are lonely or something is bothering you, you can tell me, okay?"
"I will Mom," I muttered embarrassedly, looking away. Hundreds of people were swarming around us on Platform Nine and Three-quarters, getting on board the red train that was bellowing out smoke, that was well known as the Hogwarts Express.
"Janet, I'm sure that James is capable enough to take care of himself," Dad said, stepping in.
"How do you know? Something could happen to my baby! He's never been without me before!"
"I'll be fine. We'll see each other at Christmas, and I'll try to write to you as much as I can," I said wearily. We'd been through this a million times already, so it was starting to really get on my nerves. Sure mom cared about me, but I can't stand it when she's so overly protective like this.
Mom pulled me into a tight hug. "I'll miss you. Take care, okay?"
"Got it. Later." I said farewell to dad, and then hopped onto the train right as it took off down the tracks.
I walked around the train, trying to find a decent compartment that wasn't too packed. I finally found one that seemed okay, since there were only three seats taken out of the eight.
Inside the compartment sat three boys that were around my age. The talking immediately died. They stared at me as I entered, stowed my trunk away, and sat next to someone with long, straight, black hair that reached beyond his shoulders. Across from me, the boy had short, light brown hair. And finally, the last boy that was seated next to him was short, with mousy brown hair.
"Hey, I'm James. Don't mind me," I said, just wanting to make the awkwardness that he felt go away.
"Sirius," said the one next to me. "This is Remus." He indicated the one across from me, and then told me that the one next to Remus was Peter.
After a while, we warmed up to each other and started joking around, sharing food when the food chart came by, and exchanging a few spells that we had managed to learn from our parents. The reminder of the journey passed by quicker than I ever thought it would.
And I enjoyed every single second that I spent with my new best friends.
