Just Another Day at the Office
This is the first story I have ever published and I am really interested in getting helpful feedback and constructive criticism that could help me improve my writing. I apologise if the medical information is incorrect, I just made it up from what I have read and seen on television. I hope you enjoy it.
I have had some reviews wondering who the female character is. I wrote her with the idea in my head that if she was an anonymous character then readers could imagine themselves, or any of their favourite characters in her place.
"I'm fine!" He insisted gruffly, swaying on his feet.
She rolled her eyes and grabbed him by the scruff of his neck, forcing him to bend until he was at eye level with one of the side mirrors on a nearby blue and white. "One of your eyes is completely blue because your pupil has shrunk to the size of a pin head, the other eye is completely black because pupil is all I can see."
He opened his mouth to interrupt,
"shut up," she snapped "you definitely have a concussion and you probably have some bleeding on the brain, but if you want to refuse medical treatment and die at home spasming and convulsing, be my guest!"
He gave her his best 'why-are-you-being-so-mean-to-me' look, which was just ridiculous coming from a full grown man not to mention a trained-to-kill Navy SEAL. She stared him down and his shoulders slumped.
"Fine" he groused, "I'll go to the hospital, but there's nothing wrong with me, really."
"Of course not," she placated, steering him towards one of the waiting ambulances, "but humour me."
H50*H50*H50*H50*H50*H50*H50*H50
As the ambulance containing the cause of her oncoming headache set out for the hospital, two strong hands landed on her shoulders. "You're like a mother 'handling' a tenacious two year old."
She could tell by his tone of voice that he had a stupid grin on his face, "yeah, a two year old who charges into warehouses filled with cartel soldiers by himself because backup is taking too long," she sighed in resignation.
"He's going to send me to an early grave if he keeps this shit up,"
"babe, at the rate he's going were all going to end up in early graves, it's the price we pay for following out fearless leader into battle."
She tilted her head to give him a withering look, "you know, our odds of survival would increase if you would, occasionally, try to help me keep him in line."
He smiled serenely at her, "true, but doesn't it concern you that as our boss he should be keeping us in line and not the other way around."
She made an unladylike noise in response, "a lot of things that use to concern me have become part in course since joining this study in insanity.
Chin muffled his laughter against her neck.
"C'mon," she sighed "let's get to the hospital before they kick him out for being difficult."
The End
