"They did what!" Hermione was furious. Harry and Ron looked at the front page of The Daily Prophet in front of her. Ron swore loudly. Hermione read on.

"The Ministry has chosen three canadates per person of which they must choose one within the alotted time. The scrolls were sent to all eligable last night, and with be arriving today."

"How could they do this! Just another way to infringe on the rights of Muggleborns." Hermione stormed. As she said this, an owl dropped a scroll in front of her. "You've got to be kidding!"

"Open it Hermione, let's see what choices you have," Harry said. She opened it.

Miss Granger,

The Ministry has chosen 3 eligable Pureblood wizards using a compatability test. Enclosed are 3 contracts, one for each. You will sign the one for the chosen man, and he will be notified. If you do not choose in 30 days, the Ministry will choose for you. If you refuse, your wand will be snapped and you must leave the wizarding world.

Your ever,

Dane Wasperk,

Repopulation Squad

She looked at the three contracts and groaned.

Mr. Draco Malfoy

Mr. Vincent Crabbe

Mr. Severus Snape

"What!" Ron bellowed. Harry was fuming.

"Malfoy, Crabbe, or Snape! It couldn't get worse." Harry ranted.

Up at the head table Severus was not having a fun time either.

"Parkinson? No way in hell! Bulstrode? You've got to be kidding. Granger? Don't even get me started." He muttered.

"And what's bother you this morning my dear boy?" Albus asked. Severus shoved the letter in his face.

"Ah, I see. I'm sorry my boy. I'd hope you'd been exempt but I was wrong."

"Albus, I can't marry these girls. First off all three are my students, second I really can't stand any of them. Third..." He was cut off when Hermione came up to the table.

"Professor Dumbledore?"

"Miss Granger? What can I do for you?" she showed him the letter.

"I can't go with Crabbe or Malfoy. You know what their fathers are and what those two are likely to become." Albus read the letter and looked at Severus.

"Miss Granger, the best thing for you would be to wed Professor Snape. He can protect you." He was looking at the two boys who were looking at her in a distirbingly greedy way. "We recieved information that Voldemort wants to get your powers, so I think this is the best choice." Severus looked at him, then sat back in his chair with his arms crossed.

"Well then Miss Granger, I would like to see you after class today." he said resigned.

"Yes sir."
