Okay guys, this is my first One Shot! Tell me what you think!
Colonel Jack O'Neil was in his back yard, attempting to make burgers. But that wasn't the only thing he was doing. He was trying to find a way not to think about the fact that Samantha Carter was getting married today and had invited everyone except him.
Jack tried to flip a burger in the air, but ended up dropping it. Sighing, he bent to get it. As he stood, he noticed something white out of the corner of his eye. Turning, he saw Sam, standing in the gateway to his yard. She was wearing a stunning wedding dress. It was strapless and fir tight to her body, defining the curves that her military uniform never showed. They both stood there for a moment, staring at each other. Finally, Jack was the one to break the silence.
"What on Earth are you doing here, Carter? Or has that already changed?" he asked, using the rare coldness he never used. Sam took a step back, recoiling. She quickly regained her posture and spat back.
"No, Jack, it hasn't; and it probably won't. look, I know you're angry with me for not inviting you to the wedding-"
"Just stop, Carter. I don't want to hear it! None of your excuses of why you don't want me at your Goddamn wedding!" Jack was red with fury.
"Jonathan O'Neil! Shut up for half of a second and let me finish!" Sam yelled, tears streaming. "I was left at the altar, okay? So what comebacks have you for that? Because there is one reason why he left me there, and that is because he know that you are better for me than he ever will be. He stopped the minister to tell me all of this before he walked out. He told me how 'Jack would protect you and love you more than I can'"
Jack was speechless. He really didn't have a comeback. Standing in front of him was Samantha Carter, the lieutenant he had worked with for years, crying her eyes out.
"And what do you say to that?" he asked softly
"You want my opinion?" she yelled at him, "I think you know Goddamn well what I think!" The tears had stopped, but Sam was shaking, her entire body trembling.
Jack could barely take this sight in. Sam never swore, never yelled-unless of course no one would listen to her when the Earth was going to be obliterated-and here she was, having a total y emotional breakdown, as if after years of bottled up emotions were finally too much to handle and exploded.
"You look beautiful, you know," Jack said quietly, staring into Sam's eyes.
Sam stammered for a moment, unable to find the correct words.
"Thanks, I think," Sam finally mustered.
"No one deserves you, Sam. I don't think even I do. After all the years, and nothing ever happening between us, even though we definitely had the opportunities. You know that I love you. I always have. I love your smarts, I love how you react to anything sexist. Do you remember when I first met you? You told me that you always wanted to be an astronaut and you played with GI Joes, and that just because your reproductive organs are on the inside doesn't mean you can't do a good job. Yes, I remember that, clear as anything," Jack said to Sam's mouth hanging open and her wide eyes.
"That was years ago, Jack," Sam said.
"Yes and I remember everything else you ever did. Do I need to prove that? He replied, a small grin spreading across his lips.
"No, I believe you. Don't waste your time," Sam tried to sound annoyed, but she was honestly flattered. "Did you really mean it when you said you love me?" she whispered.
"Sam," Jack said as she looked away from him. He stepped closer to her, "Sam, look at me." Unwillingly, Sam looked up at him.
"Yes, I meant it."
