"Three.. Two.. One.. BOOM!" The tall, slender man smashed his hand into the red button. For a split second, my hearing went unconscious, leaving me staring at the wall. I soon came back into reality, watching the tall, old building crumble into the ground, dust scattering like a group of ants. As the dust cleared, I saw the remains of the building. I took off my safety glasses and earmuffs, opening the metal hatch and entering the outside world. There were cranes and bulldozers everywhere, ready to build a brand new building. Of course, they would. I would just make coffee for the workers, because I'm still not good enough to actually build. It was my dream to build in this world, this wonderful, massive world. I wanted to become an architect, or a builder, but mostly.. I wanted to become a developer. See, in my world, we have what we call "Hologames", pretty generic but it's what we call them. Basically, they are holographic games where you are put into a living hologram and you have an objective. It's like playing video games only experiencing it in person. My favorite was Tyler McBride's Super Bomb Survival. That guy is a developer, he is my inspiration to become one. I loved as I entered a round of it, the holographic bombs dropping from the sky and blowing the ground around me to pieces. But, of course, I will never become a developer. You know why? Because nobody believes in me, not even myself. I am a failure, I almost just want it all to end. But I won't, because I know there's so much to this life that I want. I snapped back into reality as my manager yelled at me to go make more coffee. I groaned, but pulled myself up and headed to the main building. As I entered, my head scraping the top of the door from my height, I couldn't help but acknowledge the odor that lingered around the place. It was horrible, but it was most likely just the sulphur exposed from the building that just crumbled. I walked over to the coffee machine, getting about ten plastic cups and filling it with the hot, steamy black liquid. I sprinkled sugar on half of them, and left the other half black. I grabbed a tray from the nearby sink, placing the cups on their coasters and leaving the room. "Aah, finally, there's my coffee!" The man said, playfully punching me on the shoulder. I smiled at my only friend here and spoke, "How you doing, cinder?" My voice cheerful to the man. He returned the smile and replied, taking his coffee and having a few small sips. "Eh, I've been better. Got dust and sulphur all over my work vest." I cringed, now knowing where the putrid smell came from. I couldn't help but chuckle, waving him goodbye and taking coffee to all the workers. I then went back to my post, sitting down and watching as construction began on the new school for young developers. I began to drift to sleep, my fedora sliding off my head and thumping the ground, sending a hill of ants scattering for safety, like they were survivors in a war. I ended up completely drifting off to sleep, my unconsciousness allowing a series of dreams to take over my head.
