It didn't know how Kara got hurt. It was watching Kara when Kara got hurt, but It didn't know what caused it. Kara was walking. And then Kara fell down.

Two was trying to touch Kara. Two was reaching toward Kara's hand. It shoved Two away, harder this time. Kara was afraid of Two. It had to protect Kara from Two.
It moved toward the stairs. Two was talking to It. Two's words didn't matter. It had been ordered to protect Kara. It couldn't protect Kara if Kara was afraid. It couldn't protect Kara if Kara was dead.
It tried to go up the stairs. Two stopped it. Two stepped in front of It, and wouldn't let It go past. Two told It to stay where it was. Two told It not to take Kara to Four. Kara was afraid of Four. Four would only hurt Kara worse.
Kara cried. Kara whispered words It couldn't understand.
Kara was bleeding. Kara was hurt.
It had been ordered to protect Kara. It couldn't protect Kara if Kara was dead.
Two refused to move.

It moved Kara to one arm. It picked up Two. It turned around, and put Two down. It tried to go up the stairs.
Two grabbed It's arm.

It held Kara to It's chest, and unfolded It's free hand.
It aimed It's weapon at Two, and began to move up the stairs.
Two shouted at It to stop.
Two tried to follow It.
It fired It's weapon.
Two fell down. Two didn't get back up.
Two was bleeding.

Kara was quiet. Kara didn't try to get free. Kara was bleeding.
It continued up the stairs. It opened the bars at the top. It opened the door beyond them.
It went out into the hallway. It walked until it reached the door to the outside.
It opened them.
Two had ordered It to protect Kara.
Two had told It not to take Kara to Four.
It was going to find someone else to help Kara.
It walked out into the sunlight.
