A Daddies Love
Victoria woke up and felt for Diego on the other side of the bed. "Diego." She softly called as she opened her eyes.
It was still dark and very early in the morning. A soft piano melody could be heard from the down the hallway.
Victoria slowly climbed out of bed and put her robe on before going to see who was up so early.
She rounded the corner of the hallway and stopped before she was seen by Diego. He was sitting at the piano playing a soft classical tune holding little Edmond. "Shhh, we need to let mommy rest. She has a long day tomorrow." He spoke softly to the small child staring up at him with bright eyes. "Someday I will teach you how to play piano my little bambino."
Diego carefully shifted the bundled child so he was nuzzled up against his chest. Edmonds little eyes slowly closed while he sucked on his tiny thumb.
"There, there little one, sweet dreams. Daddy loves you very much." Diego slowly stood up and rocked from side to side humming a soft lullaby. He slowly moved down the hallway that led to the nursery.
Victoria quietly watched him with tears of love pooling in the corners of her eyes. "I love you Diego." She whispered to herself and wiped her eyes with the edge of her robe sleeve.
Diego carefully laid Edmond down in his crib and softly kissed his forehead before leaving the room. "Sweet dreams my brave son." He whispered from the doorway.
Victoria saw Diego come out of the nursery and quickly went back to the bedroom before her husband saw her.
Diego entered the bedroom and carefully climbed into bed. He put his arm over Victoria's still and relaxed body. "I love you Victoria." He gently kissed her forehead and pulled her close to him and relaxed.
Sleep quickly took over his worn out body and soon he was snoring.
Victoria opened her eyes and a soft loving smile curved her lips, "I love you too Diego." She whispered and kissed his cheek softly. She closed her eyes and a few minutes later she was sound asleep in her husbands safe and warm arms.
