Prologue
"Death? What kind of a death?" Miku leaned in, raising her left eyebrow in question. Rin started on her chair but a glance from Miku kept her seated. Michelle looked around her to make sure no one was eavesdropping and leaned in as well. "A student named Kiku Honda" she whispered "was found brutally murdered last year in the Occult room. His throat had been slit open and a kni-" "Please don't go into the gory details" Rin closed her ears and made a disgusted face. Michelle just nodded and continued, clearly enjoying playing the reporter. "Most people say he was sacrificed by a group of religiously insane students but there could be numerous other reasons as well – jealousy, hatred, revenge, obsession or even just bloodlust." "This Honda-guy – he had enemies?" Miku asked. Michelle smirked at that and a clearly annoyed Rin asked "What's so funny?" "My dears" Michelle tried to stifle a giggle but clearly failed "Kiku Honda was the manipulative, ruthless, cruel, calculating student council President." Miku's eyes widened and Rin's jaw dropped open. After a few minutes of silence, Rin finally said "W-Well, that must have been a pretty sensational murder. 'The brutal murder of the student council President of the prestigious La Roche Academy."' "Tokyo talked of nothing else for months" Michelle leaned back in her chair. "Who was the murderer?" Miku asked, an unidentifiable expression on her face. Michelle's expression suddenly turned grave. "He was never found."
