A/N:I wasn't feeling great, and this sort of just happened?! this is basically an AU where in ep 12, Victor and Yuuri really did stop seeing each other.
Inspired by the poem: " here I love you" by Pablo Neruda.
Here I love you.
In the dark pines the wind disentangles itself.
The moon glows like phosphorous on the vagrant waters.
Days, all one kind, go chasing each other.
-Pablo Neruda
—
If skaters' hearts are made of glass, then Katsuki Yuuri's is shattered all over the floor.
The ice reminds Yuuri of him. The way he moved on the ice, with an endlessly agile body and fluid movements, was remarkable.
Yuuri remembers, with a heavy heart and tears full of regret, the day he and Victor Nikiforov parted ways.
—
Victor is alone.
He recalls the days they spent together, running down the streets without a care, or dancing on the ice, eyes never leaving each other. Those days are gone now.
But, oh, how he misses Yuuri.
—
Yuuri steps out onto the ice, met with the deafening cheers of the crowd watching him.
The music starts to play and Yuuri closes his eyes, sliding out and spinning slowly, the way Victor taught him. The routine quickly escalates to a dance filled with feeling, jumps and glides. Yuuri skates like it's his last time on the ice, and it is.
Building up speed, he leaps into the jump, landing it perfectly after months of practice. The last jump is coming up.
In his mind, Yuuri knows Victor is hurt, and he knows that Victor is the one he skates for.
He changes his final jump into a quadruple flip.
—
Victor watches his student skate for his last time, and it's amazing.
This….this is overflowing with raw emotions, it's a devastatingly beautiful dance. There's no doubt that Yuuri belongs on the ice, but he doesn't believe so. Not anymore.
Yuuri landed most of his jumps perfectly.
The final jump is coming up. It should be easy.
A quadruple flip.
Victor's eyes widen, and he realises he's underestimated his student again.
—
Yuuri walks to the kiss and cry. But he doesn't want to, not if it's his last time.
"You were amazing." Victor whispers, and his voice is sincere.
Yuuri swallows the lump in his throat. "A-After this, it's all over. It's already over."
Victor cups Yuuri's face in his pale hands, forcing him to look into Victor's cerulean eyes. "Not yet. Skate with me. Please."
"What? I don't know any pairs skates…" his voice trails off.
"Yes, you do. Skate Stammi Vicino; it's just one last time." Victor's eyes are pleading.
Yuuri can only nod.
—
Victor will never love anyone the way he loves Yuuri.
It's all over.
