A second chance
I take another swig from my beer bottle. The last few drops trickle into my mouth. God dammit, it's empty.I place the empty bottle next to the many others that litter my apartment.
The alcohol numbs the pain of losing Leslie; the love of his life. He wished that he had never had sex with the other women. It had been 6 months since he and Leslie had broken up. His life had just gone downhill since losing her. He had been demoted from his job after missing several days of work. He tried to replace Leslie with other women. But they all seemed boring, they were nothing compared to Leslie. He still slept with them, but instead of making him feel better; it made him feel worse.
Alec hadn't seen Kevin or Leslie since Leslie told them both that she wanted space. Kevin loved Leslie just as much as Alec did. And Alec just couldn't forgive him for sleeping with his partner. A few weeks after, Alec had seen Leslie out on a date with a new man. He had turned, walked back to his car, and sobbed in the driver's seat. How could he have cheated on her? She was everything he wanted: She was his soul mate.
There is a knock at the door.I'm shocked; it's 1 in the morning. Who would it be at this hour?I open the door and find myself looking into the beautiful brown eyes that belong to Leslie.
Alec is looking at me. His hazel eyes pierce my brown eyes. I want to reach out, touch him. But I resist. It has only been 6 months since I last saw him, but there has been a noticeable change in his appearance. His Brown hair, once nicely cut, is now down to his shoulders and shaggy. He has stubble along his jaw. The bags under his eyes make him look like he hasn't slept in weeks. I have missed him so much.
Leslie tried to move on with her life, move on from Alec. She dated other men, they had been very nice to her, but there hadn't been a spark. So many times she wanted to go back to Alec, but her pride stopped her. She had been extremely hurt by what he had done. She couldn't trust him anymore. Kevin had been a nice escape, when she had been trying to get away from her life with Alec. But she knew it wouldn't work, she was still too in love with Alec. She was sorry that she had upset him, but Kevin had gotten over Leslie. He was now dating a girl named Samantha. Samantha was also an aspiring writer.
Leslie had moved out of Jules' apartment. She had found a cheap apartment, it wasn't big, but it was nice. She had thrown herself into her architecture job. Leslie had used work to escape the pain. Jules often told her to relax, but Leslie refused. She wanted to be with Alec, but she was deeply hurt by his actions. She often wondered what had caused him to cheat on her.
Leslie had revealed to Jules, how she still felt about Alec. Jules had encouraged her to contact him. So here she was …
