"Goodbye Darling!" was the last thing Lily Evans heard before she hopped onto the scarlet steam engine. Handing her suitcase to an attendant, she made her way down the narrow hall, searching for her friends. Being at a slight disadvantage of only 5 ft 5, she went up on tip-toes, craning her neck to see above all the other students. Just then someone rammed into her, knocking her backwards. "LILY! I was just looking for you. How was your summer?" Before Lily could answer, her best friend Emmeline Vance fired another question at her. "Did you do anything fun? My vacation was spectacular of course; Mum and Dad took me to the Caribbean. You won't believe how brilliant it was…" As Em jabbered on, Lily gave her a one-over. The Caribbean had definitely done her justice. Her skin was at least a shade darker and her normally dirty blonde hair was tinted with gold. Not to mention she seemed to have grown a few inches taller. Suddenly jealous, Lily tried to focus her attention back on her friend's story. "…bloody amazing. You would have loved it. Anyways should we head back to the compartment? Mary and Alice are waiting to see you." "Sure!" exclaimed Lily and she followed her friend down the hall.
Before they could reach the compartment however, they were stopped by two robed figures. Lily's green eyes narrowed in distaste. "Potter."
"Hello my dear Lily Flower! I've missed you so much, and of course you've missed me and my handsome looks as well." James Potter said, raking his fingers through his hair.
"Oh of course. It was dreadful not hearing your annoying voice ask me out every 5 minutes," Lily said sarcastically. Emmeline laughed as James pouted. "Looking good Em," Sirius Black finally spoke, eyeing her. "Well keeping looking because this is all you'll ever get to see," Emmeline said.
"Don't count on that."
"In your dreams Black." Emmeline rolled her eyes.
Sirius smirked and raised his eyebrow. "Gross!" Emmeline and Lily shrieked. The two boys burst out laughing as Lily and Emmeline hurried away. Annoyed from their run-in with James and Sirius, they reached the compartment looking cross, but their frowns melted away as they reunited with their friends.
