Author Note: So works been crazy and I felt bad that I haven't been able to update as much and I wanted some Mowen so here's some New Year's fluff. A big thank you to Halawen for all your help with this drabble.
Backstory
It's Maya's Senior Year at Degrassi
Her and Tris made up and are friends again
Owen and Maya are both single
Maya's POV
When I heard about the New Year's party being thrown at the frat house I thought I might have trouble getting in but no one said anything. I push my way through the crowd to where the food is and get myself some punch when I see a familiar face.
"Owen," I smile.
I saw him standing there by the punch talking to another guy when I said his name. He turned towards the sound of my voice and looked surprise to see me standing there.
"Maya Matlin at a college party never thought I'd see the day." Owen comments walking up to me. 'What have you been up to?"
"Dealing with senior year course loads." I tell him shrugging not really wanting to talk about it before going on. "And of course college applications graduations in 6 months and I can't wait."
"Yeah College is great so where are you applying?" Owen asked. "C'mon lets go sit somewhere quitter." He says as the bass gets even louder than before and grabs my hand when I nod. I felt a tingling rush through my hand when he clasped on and guided me through the backed house and into a sunroom liked room that was empty and we sat down and continued our talk.
"I applied to TU, York and Ryerson." I said smiling a little.
"You should come to TU we might have classes together." He smiled down at me making me smiled back at him.
"That be great I remember you said over summer you're going for teaching and that's what I want to do as well so it could happen if I get accepted." I tell him as I try and get comfortable on the bench better. We talk for a while and then go outside for some air.
"You want to walk I'll show you around campus," Owen says.
"Yeah sure, I just got to find my jacket." I tell him standing and about to head out to the main room.
"Nah we can go out the back way and you can borrow my jacket, I got a hoodie on so I'll be fine." Owen says also standing up and takes his jacket off and helps me get it on.
I thank him as he grabs my hand and leads me out of the house and into the chilly air and I feel Owen drop my hand but before I could feel disappointed in that I was pulled closer to him and I could smell his cologne on him as he wrapped his arm around me and started showing me around the campus. He showed me the different areas of the campus and what areas are for which departments for classes. Then we walked back to his dorm as it was nearing midnight. He was just showing me his room when we heard fireworks going off to signal that it was midnight. I looked up when I felt his arm go around me in surprise and I look up to see him staring down at me with a smile.
"Happy New Year Maya." He whispers capturing his lips with mines as I feel sparks with every second of the kiss. It was a few minutes before we parted to breathe as I feel him wrap his arms around me and pull me close as I lay my head on his chest.
"Happy New Year Owen."
