(Jay's POV)
Ahh, the sweet smell of... Well... Sweets! I've been in the kitchen baking cookies. I've always loved Christmas. It's my favorite time of the year! The decorations, the joyful noise, the snow, the presents and of course... The treats! I've been told that I make some pretty good cookies.
My cell phone was plugged into some speakers and Christmas music was playing. Right now, I'm mixing up the cookie dough for Snickerdoodles, my personal favorite. I lightly swing my hips along with the song and softly sing along. "Just hear those sleigh bells jinglin', ring-ting tinglin' too. C'mon it's lovely weather for a sleigh ride together with you..." Suddenly a pair of strong, muscular arms trap me in an embrace of warmth. I smile softly. "Hey Cole-baby."
"Jay, I told you not to call me that." I chuckle lightly at his comment. "Anyways... Whatchya doin'?"
"Oh you know... Just skiing." I feel his cheeks move up into a smile.
"Ok. Fine. Don't tell me..." I glance up at him. "I'm kidding. So, you want any help?"
"As long as you don't screw it up, then sure." He chuckles then slip his arms off, going to grab his black apron. As he ties it around his waist, he walks back over. "So... What do you want me to do?"
"Well first... Change this song. I hate it." I set the bowl of batter down. The next song... it's my favorite. Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas... Oh man. So good. I feel his left hand slide around my waist and into my own left. I hear a small clink as our wedding bands collided. I smile softly as I sprinkle flour on the counter top. I pull our left hands over to the bowl as he puts his right hand on mine - like the left ones - and helps lift the batter onto the counter top. I suddenly feel him pull me back away from the counter.
"Jay... Dance with me... Please?" I smile and blush.
"Of course. You know I always will." I turn around and slide my hands over his shoulders and around his neck as his slide around my waist. He suddenly spreads something on my lips then pushes his against mine. Icing. It was icing. I should've seen this coming. I feel his rough tongue swiping the creamy goodness off my lips. I feel him starting to sway us slightly. I pull away from his kiss and lay my head on his shoulder, singing quietly with the song. So soothing and stress-relieving. When the song ends, I look up at him, peck him on the lips and go back to baking.
I pull out the cookie cutters. Stars, bells, trees, an angel, and a snowman. We both grab one and start pressing them into the dough once we flattened it out. "You always seem to make my day better. You obviously made my life better though."
"And you, mine." I look up at him and he leans down to give me a small peck.
"Dads...!" Damn it.
"What is it, Simon?" I say as I look over at him. His glasses shine on the dim lighting of the kitchen.
"It's Aiden. He's eating the candy canes off the tree." I sigh.
"Cole... Can you go stop him, please?" He nods and kisses my cheek before leaving. I continue cutting the cookies. "There goes my peace and quiet." I suddenly hear Cole yell out Aiden's full name. I sigh and take my apron off. I hang it up and walk out of the kitchen. "Here we go again..."
