The two boys sat in front of the fire, chilled and bodies begging for warmth. It was snowing out, the flakes of winter coming down like a soft rain in April.
The fort in which the Greil Mercenaries stayed in was nothing more than a small cottage, with simple furnishing and only appliances that were needed were in the cottage. The cottage was made from wood found in the forest in which it was located, but was sturdy enough to last.
Ike and Soren sat cuddled in front of the substantial fire, one reading and the other dozing off. Soren leaned his head against Ike's small chest and brought his knees to his own chest. Although they were both of age seven, Soren was very small and frail, and was much smaller than Ike.
"Yawn! Soren, how much longer you gonna stay up? I'm sleepily…" Soren could tell by the dreaminess in Ike's voice that he was very tired. And his left eye was beginning to twitch.
"You may go to sleep if you need to, but I'm staying right here. It's much warmer in front of the fire rather than in that drafty room you call bed chambers." Soren than snuggled even closer to Ike. As cold Soren's words had just sounded, he really did not want Ike to leave. "Or you could stay right here with me and sleep. How about that?"
Ike smiled and nudged away from Soren. He then lifted Soren's arms, spread out Soren's legs and lay his head on Soren's lap. "I like that plan!"
Soren could feel his cheeks become red. Ike noticed this sudden change and giggled. He closed his eyes and began to think of all the wondrous things he and Soren could do together once the warmth of Summer came along again. He pictured the flower meadows with the random boulders within it, the small ponds and lakes they could swim in together.
As Ike began to fall into a restful sleep, Soren rubbed Ike's head, running his finger's through his best friends hair. They stayed that way all night and received questioning looks from Greil and Elena the following morning.

I wrote this because I was thinking of romantic possibilities between Young!Ike and Young!Soren because it's just that cute and sweet. Expect more stories and review 'cause I love hearing you opinions!
