"Kairi, will you-" "Yes, yes, yes!" Kairi exclaimed, cutting Sora off. "Really?! You'll help set up the dance?! Thanks Kairi, you're a life saver!" Sora responded with the usual bright smile he wore. "Of cour-wait what? You want me to help set up with the dance? That's what you asked?" Kairi frowned, her once excited expression fading into a confused frown. "Yeah, of course. What else would I be asking?" An innocently blank and confused smile made its way to Sora's lips. Kairi forced down the reflex to roll her eyes as she turned to leave the classroom. "Nothing else of course." She mumbled, walking out of the room, the air of irratation around her very noticeable even to the oblivious boy. "We start after school!" He called out after her cheerfully, hoping it would dim her mood. Once Kairi was out of earshot Roxas gave Sora a well deserved hit on the back of the head. "That was your chance! You said you'd ask her!" Roxas scolded with irratation, his bright blue eyes reflecting his frustration. "I know, I know, I'm sorry! I will next time!" Sora whimpered as he rubbed the back of his head fondly. That would surely leave a small bump of some kind when he woke up the next morning. Roxas rolled his eyes, feeling no sympathy for his whimpering brother. "You better, or I'll tell Riku." The blonde said slowly, his tone threatening as he said the silver haired boys name. "No no no no no!" Sora exclaimed, knowing if his older friend found out there would surely be some punishment and scolding awaiting him. "Then you better ask her. Today. After school." Roxas walked out of the room. He shortened his sentences, empahsizing them to increase the threat. He smiled to himself as he listened to his brother freak out at the impending threat and issues. 'Bet you wish you asked her in the first place, huh?', he thought to himself with a soft chuckle. After school the gang had gathered inside the gym to set up. Kairi walked in later than the rest, slowly trudging towards the middle where everyone was gathered. "Hey Kairi!" Sora exclaimed, waving her over. 'What now? Can't he see I don't wanna talk to him right now...I bet he just wants something', Kairi thought bitterly. "Kairi, will you-" Sora started nervously once she approached. "No, I will not Sora." The red head snapped, trudging out of the gym with a murderous air surrounding her. Sora's and Roxas' mouth dropped open, the brothers too schoked to react any other way. Even the usually calm Riku froze, the box he'd been carrying dropped to the ground with a loud thump. The upperclassmen, Aqua, Terra, and Ventus, walked inside, smiling and prepared to help out. "Hey guys, we heard you needed..." Aqua trailed off as looked at the three frozen boys. "Uhh...guys?" Ven asked, waving a hand in front of Sora's face. "Riku?" Terra tapped on his shoulder lightly. Aqua gently pushed Roxas over, making the boy tip over like a tree. Instantly everything seemed to go in motion again as if someone has pressed a play button. Sora clung to Roxas, practically hanging on his arm, "She said no!" He wailed. Riku picked up his box, walking over to the wailing brunette. "Why would she say no? I thought she liked you." Roxas frowned in confusion, suprisingly not bothered by the clinging of his brother. The discouraged brunette shrugged. "I guess she really doesn't.." He sighed, his shoulders sagging. "It's alright Sora." Terra pat his back lightly, hoping to cheer him up even if only a little. "You can always ask someone else.." He tried, and failed, to try and give him hope. "Speaking of asking..Aqua-" Terra began. "Aqua will you go to the dance with me?" someone suddenly yelled, cutting of the brunette. Blinking in confusion, Aqua looked around the large room. Her eyes settled on a figure sitting upon the closed bleachers. The black spiky hair standing out against the pale walls of the gym. "V-Vanitas.." Aqua stuttered, her cheeks flushing a pale pink as her thoughts processed just who had asked her the question. "Vanitas..." Terra growled, irritation radiating off of him as he glared at the raven haired male. Vanitas ignored the brunette as he shoved his hands in his pockets. "So, what's your answer, princess?" Slowly, he pushed himself off the bleachers, jumping down to the floor. He landed gracefully, one foot tapping the ground after another. Aqua jumped, blinkning in surprise as she watched him approach with long purposeful strides. Once he had reached her he stopped, his smirk still present. The room went silent as everyone waited for her response, the only sound coming from the quiet breeze blowing in through the open window. "Will you, Aqua?" He repeateed as if the question needed to be said again before any response could be made. "I..Yes. I'll go to the dance with you." The blue haired female smiled, a faint barely noticeable smile, as her cheeks brightened with a pale pink blush. Vanitas' already wide smile seemed to only widen even more when he finally receieved his long awaited answer. "Will you stay and help set up?" She asked quietly, curiously. The raven haired boy's smirk seemed to finally falter, as it faded slowly into a frown. He waved his hand dismissively, "Not my thing, see ya later." He gave a wave, resembling more of a two finger salute, as the group watched him leave. After a few moments of silence Terra began walking out of the gym as well, his steps rushed and annoyed. "I have to go, I forgot there's something I have to do." Without another word, the brunette disappeared out the door, leaving his friends confused and worried. "Terra.." Aqua said, her voice quiet, the worry in her tone evident. "Terra?" Ven called after him, though it was much too late now. There was no chance his older friend would have heard him now. "What was that about?" The two youngest, Roxas and Sora, said in unison. Everyone began to move again, as if the previous events hadn't happened at all. "You'll understand when you're older." Riku said, walking to another spot of the gym, box in his arms. "Riku! You're only a year older!" The siblings whined, clinging to the taller male, one clinging to each arm. The silver haired boy ignored them, the only show of acknowledgement being that he stopped walking. His blank expression didn't change even as Sora and Riku began to shake him and whine. Suddenly freezing, Sora frowned a bit in confusion. "Hey Roxas aren't you going to ask Namine to the dance?" The brunette questioned his brother curiously. Also freezing now, Roxas' cheeks turned a faint pink as he chuckled nervously. "Well yeah...eventually..." He mumbled nervously. "You do realize the dance is in two days?" Riku raised an eyebrow and turned his head to look at the blonde still clinging to his arm. More nervous laughter errupted as Roxas let go to rub the back of his head. "I know, I know.." Sora let go, a pout forming as he looked at his brother. "And you were scolding me about not asking. Roxas smiled apologetically, shrugging. "Sorry." Riku, having the sense to begin working, continued walking, dropping his box down to land on the floor of the gym. "Enough chatting, get to work." He less stated and more demanded. The two brothers brought their hands up to a salute, standing at attention. "Yes, sir!" They yelled before giggling and proceeding to help the silver haired boy unload and set up.
