A Mothers Musings
"Hmm…let's see. What flavors should I get?" I ponder looking over the different flavors of ice cream or 'sweet snow' as Shuichi's friend Hiei tends to call the cold treat. I stifle a small laugh at the petite young man and his adorable name and enjoyment of the stuff. Selecting a mint chocolate chip, a rainbow sherbet, and a coffee I make my way out of the ice cream isle and to a check stand.
When my groceries are bagged and paid for, I start wondering once more on my walk home if Shuichi and Hiei are simply friends or something more. For a while I have taken their friendship at face value, but for the last few months I swear I've seen them give each other some quite affectionate looks where their eyes make them look like they're in love. But perhaps I'm mistaken and reading into things more than I should. Those looks are always fleeting and occur when I see them through a door way from another room or at a further distance.
*Sigh* I can't be totally off though as I'm sure it's happened at least a dozen times. Besides Shuichi always looks more lively and happier when Hiei's over and seems sad when we don't see him for a while. (Though where Hiei goes for those stretches of time and does, I don't really know as neither boy will give me a straight answer.)
At times I've nearly asked my son if Hiei is his boyfriend, but I stop myself as I feel if they are together then I want Shuichi to come and tell me on his own when he's ready. Come to think of it he's never shown any interest in one gender or the other. Hmm I wonder why I never realized that before. Ohh well.
Before I know it, I find myself walking up the path to the front door of my house. Shifting my grocery bags over to just one arm, I quickly fish my keys out of my purse and unlock my door. Walking in, I close and relock the door moving through the back side of the living room to reach the kitchen.
I immediately pause when my eyes land on Shuichi and Hiei in the living room. Not that them in the living room is an odd occurrence. But them both asleep on the couch snuggled together is something I've never seen. Shuichi is lying on his back head propped up by a pillow with one leg stretched out along the couch and the other bent. On top of him is Hiei laying face down with his legs on either side of Shuichi's bent leg. His visible hand is latched onto a few locks of red hair and his head is resting just under my sons chin. To top it off Shuichi's arms are wrapped around Hiei's torso and they both look quite happy and content napping away. Breaking my gaze I quickly deposit the groceries in the kitchen and retrieve my camera. *Snap. Snap.* I capture a few images then leave the boys in peace while I review the precious pictures on my way to put my groceries away happy that both my son and Hiei have found someone love.
