A/N: One of my first YGO fanfics. Very short one-shot in Ryou's perspective after the events of Season 5.
I don't own Yu-Gi-Oh or any of the characters.
I Need You, Yami
"Ah darn it!" Ryou complained when he finally reached his apartment. He ran his hand through his white hair, shaking some of the water out. "It just had to rain after school didn't it?" he said to himself with a sigh.
He took off his shoes and left his school bag beside the door."Ah, I guess I'm going to have to run these in the laundry." He said to himself as he headed to the laundry room, pulling off his uniform jacket and unbuttoning his shirt.
He tossed the soaked clothes to the side and checked the contents of the washer. "Nothing here, so might as well start a new load." He picked up the discarded clothes and dropped them inside. He quickly checked the dryer and found some clothes to still be in there. "Huh, guess I forgot to finish."
Ryou pulled a pair of boxers and a large shirt from the clothes and quickly changed into them. He put the rest of his wet clothes in the washing machine and started it up. With a satisfied expression, he picked up the dry clothes and took them to the small living room.
"How long has it been, Bakura?" He said absently. "About a week hasn't it? It feels like it's been much longer than that." A frown began to form on his face.
Ever since the Millennium Items were returned to Egypt and the spirits within were released, Ryou lost has been without his darker, other half. No matter how much of a bad person Bakura was, he felt complete with him. Despite how often he was hurt and tortured by the ancient spirit, he couldn't bring himself to get rid of the Millennium Ring for good. He had many opportunities to dispose of it but how could he when the evil spirit made him feel less alone.
Ryou continued on with a smile on his face to show his friends he was fine during that week. He even faked it to Yugi and he was the one who had it the hardest watching the Pharaoh leave him for good. It wasn't like he can tell them the truth. What would his friends think of him if he admitted it wasn't so bad sharing a body with the spirit of the ring?
He turned the television on to the news channel to listen as background music while he folded the clothes. He couldn't stop thinking about his missing other half. No one ever said it would be easy losing your other half, no matter what kind of a person they were. A day hasn't gone by where he wasn't thinking about his Yami, remembering the good and the bad times they had even before he met Yugi and the spirit of the Millennium Puzzle.
He folded a few shirts, put them aside, and grabbed a larger piece of clothing from the basket. He looked at the black material and it took him awhile to remember, this was the coat his Yami had. Ryou dropped it in his lap and stared at it with saddened eyes.
"This is yours isn't it, Bakura." He trembled slightly and buried his face into the trench coat, crying softly. "Please come back, Bakura, my other half. I need you. Come back someday, before I break myself to be with you again."
