The view at Shell Cottage was too beautiful for the sadness in Harry's head. He couldn't think of anything that was more of an oxymoron. The sun was setting, hitting the sea and making everything shades of purple and orange.

It made him slightly angry—how dare this sight be so beautiful when inside Harry felt as if he was bleeding, being cut open by the same knife that—

He needed to blink several times to get the tears out of his eyes.

"Are you going to come inside?"

Harry turned to see Luna approaching. She fit there, blond hair and blue eyes and pale skin. There was something that made her fit there. Harry and his sadness didn't.

"I don't think so, Luna," he replied, forcing his throat to work. It felt rough. He turned to face the ocean again, watching the sun sink lower and lower.

"Do you know what I did when my mum died?"

Luna's voice sounded closer but Harry didn't want to turn his head again. He hated himself for admitting it, but it was probably something including wrackspurts. To be honest, Harry didn't want to hear about it, not now. He would never say that, though, so he stayed silent instead.

"I realised that my mum would want me to go on." Luna was sitting next to Harry, he realised. Her voice came from his left and he could see her bare toes in his peripheral vision. "She would want me to honour her memory by continuing to be her daughter and not just be sad," Luna continued. Her words hit Harry, hard, and he realised two things.

The first: Luna lost her mum when she was nine. If she was nine then and Harry was seventeen now, he could get past this.

The second: Luna was a Ravenclaw. She had to know what she was talking about, at least a little bit.

Still, Harry didn't know how to respond, except for a sigh.

"I know that doesn't mean that it won't hurt, though," Luna added. They were quiet for a moment, Harry staring out into the almost total-darkness.

"I'll be here until it gets better and your nargles disappear," Luna whispered, breaking the silence.

There it is, he thought, as tears hit Harry's face as the moon started to rise.
