John was asleep, and you knew that you should be, too. It wasn't often Dean slept soundly and deeply enough for you to get a good solid night's rest.

But you didn't want to leave the nursery tonight. At least, not yet. You wanted to keep watching the sleeping child in the crib, and if that meant you only dozed off in the rocking chair for a couple hours, so be it.

Besides, this way, if your child stirred, you would be here.

Be here to hold him, to sing to him, to comfort him.

You would always be here.
