Little Marcy couldn't sleep. It was about 9:30, she usually fell asleep two hours earlier. That might not seem very late but when you're living in the aftermath of the Great Mushroom War there really isn't much to so Marceline Abadeer and her friend Simon Petrikov would just get to sleep as soon as it got dark.

"What's Simon doing outside the car?" She thought to herself. Marcy wasn't entirely sure if it was Simon, the father figure or Simon, the possessed madman outside. She grabbed her stuff animal, Hambo and worked up enough courage to crawl out of the shelter and see who was outside. It was just her 40-something year old friend, Simon. He was scribbling on some scrap paper by the fire.

Simon turned his head toward her, "Hey, Marceline. What are you doing awake?"

"I can't sleep,"

"Same, I'm just passing the time by writing." Said Simon in a relaxed voice.

"Ooooh! Can I help?" She asked excitedly.

"How about the next one? This song's kind of personal." Simon had been questioning himself and what he has done when wearing the crown, he simply couldn't remember. He had also wondered how much the crown would affect his personality in the long run. For too long he has been away from his princess, Betty. For all Simon knew, she could be dead.

What if he killed her and didn't even recall it ever happening? What if he were to hurt seven-year-old Marcy. To keep himself sane, Simon would write his deepest thoughts in his music.

"Some day, I want to make music just like you." Marceline said with a cute little smile.

"You can do what ever you want to do if you really put your mind to it. I always wanted to become an archeologist when I was your age, so I worked to it."

"If you can do anything you want then why don't you get rid of your crown if it makes you go all crazy?" asked Marcy hugging her beloved Hambo.

"I'm not sure if I want to do that, Gunter."
