A/N: Hello, another AU story, this one fixing what happened in 10x13 "Sparrow's Nest". It's set in the same universe as my story "Dependant" and although it's not needed to read it first I'd suggest you do. Elle is back in the BAU here and three years, she leads her own team part of which is Elle and Meave (yes she is alive for this), she and Hotch have build a strong friendship and overcame the issues they had in the past. Elle is married to Gideon and Hotch is married to Emily. EllexHotch friendship.

~Hellish morning~
Elle was counting the minutes anxiously, she still had three hours and twenty five minutes till she could go home and curl into the arms of the man she loves. She knows exactly what to do. She'll get burgers and extra fries with cheese he adores and hop in the car driving straight to their cabin.
He was already there, drove this morning, she would too if she wasn't stuck in budget meetings all day. Worse Hotch was called away on a case! She laughed at that. She and Hotch were not in good terms when she left his team, but still he helped her when she transitioned back to the BAU as a Unit Chief this time. He stood next to her in meetings, paced silly notes when Strauss wasn't looking, brought her breakfast before meetings, offered her a drink after cases. Made funny faces with her in meetings and presentations that were longer than life and boredom drove her mad, even played footsies with her on one of the longest and most boring budget meetings of her life under the conference table. She got close to him, almost got dependant to his presence. His comforting presence. So why did he have to get called in a case today? She had a nudging feeling the whole day. She pushed it away, but it was still there.
She tried to get out of her head and sitting in the break room, laughing at something Ashley said, she had succeeded. She was listening to the funny little story Ashley was telling to Meave laughing a little herself when her phone rang…
