Hello again! This is a fanfiction for The Hunger Games (book/movie) about Rue. I loved Rue's character and wished I could have seen her be one of the people to live :'(
I MUST thank my friend (I'm not sure if she has a fanfic here or not, whenever I find out I will add her name) for helping me with the title! I had no idea what to name this and the brilliant mind of my friend helped me, for that I give her a big credit for if I hadn't thought of a title I wouldn't have been able to publish this.
This fanfiction is about from when she was picked for The Hunger Games up until her death, everything that is in between from the interviews to her meeting Katniss will be involved.
But I hope you like this, it maybe short or long depending on how many views I have or how many people like it, if you have any good/bad opinions please leave them any criticism is welcomed.
If you've clicked this story then I thank you! And I ask you to leave me a review (if you'd like to) so I know what you think of it :)
Now here is the beginning chapter.
"Rue." The name called from the woman at the stage made Rue's heart feel like it did a little flip, she was the girl from District 11 who's name was just drawn. She was going to be apart of the 74th annual Hunger Games.
She looked towards the ground as she slowly walked to the set up stage, each step feeling heavy as she walked. Rue was a small, 12 year old girl. She was dark skinned with brown hair that was in natural curls and kinks. She was a pretty child and the oldest of her five siblings. If you looked at her, you'd think that she wouldn't last five minutes in the games.
Rue stepped onto the stage and looked out at all of her friends, all of her family. She tried to not cry and swallowed hard. The woman that was on the stage who was sponsoring her district was short and chubby, with bright green hair that was in a bobbed hair style and an odd dress on her that matched.
The woman cheerfully went to the next glass globe looking bowl that had papers inside of it. She reached her hand inside and pulled out one and walked, almost skip like, to the microphone. "Thresh!" She called out and Rue sighed quietly to herself, the boy that came up on stage with her looked strong, he was taller than her, she couldn't tell his age.
He looked like he could take down multiple people, that he could win the entire games. He stood straight and tall in front of everyone, not showing any weakness. Rue wondered what they thought of him, but she also wondered what they thought of her.
When the time came, they turned towards each other and shook each others hands, then turned back to thr crowd of people she knew and worked with. Some looked sad, others looked relieved that they had survived another year of not being picked.
This was some of the people's last year to be able to be drawn, others still had to worry but now they were safe. The families would feel sorry for others who's children were picked, but they could do nothing about it.
Rue and Thresh would lead inside and to separate rooms where they were allowed to see their families for a short time before they left. Rue paced back and forth and quietly whispered to herself, "You have to win..."
