And there she stood in front of him, her hair twisting in soft curls as they fell down her shoulders. Her 5 feet and 4.5 inch frame so small compared to his, and yet she somehow managed to be all he could see. All he could think of.
How could one tiny person take so much space in his life, in such a short amount of time? How could she of all people, April Kepner, his awkward best friend, be so damn… irresistible? With her large, hazel eyes glistering from the unshed tears. With her small white teeth biting on her soft, pink lower lip. With her voice breaking as she whispered she missed him.
Like, seriously, how the hell was he supposed to resist her?
"You know what I'm thinking about right now?" she whispered, her eyes dropping down his lips. "Kissing you. Standing here, looking at you, and all I wanna do is kiss you."
Then do it. Kiss me, his brain was screaming, as he unconsciously licked his lips.
And then he violently pushed those thoughts away. He had to stop thinking of her like that. He had to stop wanting her. They were not together, and never had been. She was still so new to this, she had no idea what being in a relationship was like. He had exposed his feelings to her and she had all but chuckled at him. She wasn't ready for what he needed. He doubted she ever would be. And he was certain she had never felt the tiniest bit for him as he had for her.
And so he bit his lips and pulled his eyes off hers before his mind could get any ideas.
After all, he was with Stephanie now.
