It. Was. Freezing.
Another shiver ran up the spine of a very coatless Remus. Tears slowly trailed down his rosy checks, flushed from the cold. He inhaled through his nose, the back of his right wiping his nose. Shivering again he curled into a ball, arms folded protectively around his knees trying to retain heat. His world had come crashing down. Hard.
"God I'm so stupid!" He whispered into his knees pressing his lips again the skin he could taste the salt from his crying. He never should have told Sirius he had romantic feelings for him, it had been a long shot of reciprocation to being with. This was the last time he was every taking the advice from anyone. The wide eyed expression Sirius had responded with had been slapped his forehead against his knees as he swayed in the snow on the roof outside their shared bedroom window. His mouth, red and chapped from the harsh breeze, stung. Not even his physical discomfort countered to the immense hurt welling up inside. He felt Raw, a fitting word.
When Sirius had remained quiet Remus' instinct had him afraid of what might ensue if he stayed."Why. . ." He punched the hardened snow that lay around his feet, it met with a satisfying crunch. That sound was met with another, and another until his hand reached roof tile and he pulled away cursing and grasping at his hand. Knuckles cut and bleeding, his vision blurred once again as the pain added injury to insult.
Behind him he heard the sound of rustling clothe, as he felt something draped over his shoulders. It was soft and warm, and smelled of fabric softener and cigarettes, it smelled of Sirius. With out a word the young man maneuvered his way to a sitting position next to his friend. Remus sat there stock still and cradling his hurt digits. Not making a sound.
"Sirius I-" his voice caught in his throat as several gentle, tender kisses were placed on the throbbing cuts. Remus relaxed as he leaned his head against Sirius' shoulder, and he found himself sobbing. Sirius' mouth moved to Remus' forehead. He braved a look at Sirius and what he found there made his skin prickle. Sirius brought their lips the remaining distance. It wasn't a heated kiss though it made Remus a lot warmer. He could feel Sirius smiling.
With an intake of breath they leaned back, steam rushing out of them and into the night air. An amiable silence settled between them for several minutes before Sirius finally spoke.
"Moons-" Sirius whispered, brushing hair out of Remus' face "We're OK, you and me." Sirius struggled to hide his chuckle as Remus leaned in for another go.
