Just a collection of drabbles for my 'Two Sides of a Coin' fic. It is my Natsume Yuujinchou x Nurarihyon no Mago crossover fic. This fic is for the scenes/ideas that will not be shown in the original plots.
Chapter 1
If you had told him most of his friends would be yokai a year or two before, he would stares at you as if you're nuts or he would've immediately hightailed himself away from you.
But right now, after fully knowing and befriending the so called creatures of myth, he had finally appreciated the 'sight' gifted to him.
Even though the gift had been the major source of his pain and loneliness during his childhood, it also guided him toward them, all the yokai he had acquaintance himself with.
With the help of his gift, he had met various kind of yokai. There are yokai that are far kinder and gentle than human; there are also yokai that loves to mingle with human and also yokai that hated human because of their short lifespan.
Despite what the majority of the human and all the exorcists thought, yokai indeed have emotions, and in fact they are far more affectionate and emotional than human. They also shed tears of sadness and happiness; they are able to feel the emotions of love, happiness, sadness, grief and anger.
They are creatures that transcend the human lifespan, they befriend the human, reveling in the warmth of the human and then grief when they have to finally say their goodbye toward each other when the short lifespan of the human ends.
For yokai, human's lifespan are only a blink of an eye for them, they would lose themselves in the flow of time, having nothing to hold onto. They need the human to anchor themselves to despite knowing the ending to their relationship.
Even though they know the human will leave them far earlier than they liked, they are still attracted to them and the human to them. It is the law of the nature. The yokai needs the human to prove that they are indeed alive and the human needs yokai to belief that there are indeed mystical creatures that would aid them.
But after the years had flown by, both sides had begun to forget about that particular law, the human losing the ability to 'see' while the yokai dwell in the grief of losing the humans they had cherished.
With the 'sight' gifted to him, he is determined to recuperate the bonds that been severed for centuries. It may take more than an eternity to fulfill it but with the support of his beloved one, both humans and yokai, around him, he believes he will manage it somehow.
He may have a lot of yokai that are willing to do anything at his beck and calls but they are neither his servants nor followers.
They are his friends.
