I passed a note to Lilly, in front of me. She hissed at me, Mrs. Scott was coming this way. She quickly put it in her lap and put her book on top of it. Scott opened the door and in walked Nick Lucas, the very same guy I was dating. I knew he was practically obsessed with me, but this was too far. "Everyone, this is Nick Lucas. He's a transfer from Horris Mantis Academy. He will be in our second hour and probably will follow at least one of you." She searched the classroom, looking for an empty desk. "You can sit behind Miley Stewart." She put a hand on his shoulder and sighed. "Try to stay quiet, please." Her eyes darted to me and finally she walked back to the front of the room. "You came just in time, Nick. We're starting to read A Walk To Remember." A few guys groaned. "That's enough! Whenever I bring it up, all I hear is groans and usually from my male section." She strode to her board and wrote Oliver's name down, even though he actually enjoyed the book when he'd read it last summer (we had made him), and was not groaning. He knew better than to argue, and handed her his "card". She had made him one because he gets into detention a lot (because all the teachers were bitches.) and each had a line for date of detention, the issue and a signature from his mom. He got spanked for each one. He had ended up in detention yesterday and on Monday, his mom had spanked him really hard for it. You could tell he still had padding in his pants, to ease the pain. He shifted in his chair, probably because of the spanking that was to come. I felt a hand on my shoulder. It was Nick's. "Nick, stop. . ." I growled. "Stewart. Detention after school, be there. Nick, darling, today is your first day so I'll let you off with a warning." Scott scribbled something on a piece of paper and handed it to me. This isn't the end of the world. I thought. Dad won't care. SHIT. Hannah's got a concert tonight. I groaned out loud. "STEWART. Do you need to see Principal Ramsey?" She tapped a ruler in her hand and grinned evilly at me. "No, miss." I sighed. "Good. Open your books-" The bell ringing cut her off and she mumbled that 40 minutes was not enough time to teach. Everyone tore out of the classroom. Lilly reached for my hand. "Come on, Miles." I looked and thrust my shoulder out towards Nick. "Oh..." She let go and smiled. "I'll see you in free, okay Mi?" I nodded. "What's your schedule, Lucas?" I ripped it out of his hands. Shit. He had the exact same schedule as me. I groaned and ran towards Lilly. "Lilly, he has the same schedule as me!" I put my head on her shoulder as we sat on our favorite bench, under our favorite tree. Free period for us was the length of 2 periods, because we only had Drama, Reading, Free, Free, Math, then we go home before lunch, so about 3 ½ hours of school. Nice. She was reading my note. "You're going to break up with Nick?" I swallowed. "Yeah." "Why?" "I just... I don't love him anymore, Lil." I stroked her hair. "Remember Cody? You loved him and then you got over him, he wasn't yours anymore." Tears filled her eyes. "Sorry." As a tear fell, I wiped it with my finger. "You're beautiful... don't ever let anyone say you aren't." I hugged her tightly. "Miley." Nick said softly. We never noticed that he had been laying behind the bushes, and I gasped. Nick came for me, shoved me off the bench and walked away. "MILEY!" Lilly screamed. My head hit the tree, and I blacked out. The last thing I saw was Lilly trying to hold me up, screaming for a teacher. I could see tears falling from her eyes as my eyes closed and my breathing began to slow. She was scared and couldn't afford to lose me.
