What it means to be a woman.
As a girl I learned what a smile can bring.
As a young girl promises fuelled with hopefulness and love.
Living through the stages of girlhood and womanhood, knowing what would come.
Men stare with lust full eyes, wanting something so forbidden.
As a woman my promises were cut short and dreams dashed away, to suit the dreams and fantasy of another man.
As a woman I have lived knowing vast fears for every man.
Fear raised by the vision of an evil coupling.
As a wife married to the devil himself, dressed as a man, who rules my every act.
As a beggar in my own home, begging him to leave me alone.
As a witness, I have witness my husband have the enjoyment of being a man.
To be abused by the man I was given to.
To suffer from nightly rapes.
Only the servants hear my cry for help.
As a dying person I'm being buried alive.
By those who claim to love me.
As I'm turning twenty- five I have learned what it means to be a woman.
Ok this is another one of my one- shots. I hope you liked it. The idea came from an author that I'm falling in love with her books "Jean Sasson". You have to read some of her stories, there so amazing. Also you can find some of her poems on my page.
