Author's Starting Notes: This came from nowhere, yet, here it is! It's a very odd drabble, and it really has no purpose for those of you out there who think, well, everything needs a purpose. I don't have a specific couple in mind for this. Although, I did mention one of my favorite Harry Potter characters of all time. I don't have much to say today, but if you like it, please tell me; if you hate it, please tell me; if you don't know what you think, tell me; heck, if you just want to say hi, go ahead. I'll reply and say hi back. Just please review.

Life.

One simple word. Four letters. By definition, life is the state of being alive as a human being, or animal. However, life isn't what the dictionary says. Life is simple, like a meal. Not the TV dinner kind, but the fancy restaurant type.

Life begins with the appetizer. That's that stage that everyone knows. The simple days of beginning, where it all starts and where one is set up for the rest. Next up, comes the lighter things, the soup and the salad, if you will. It's that part in the middle of the meal where you truly decide what you want. That course is called adolescence. Following that is the main course. It fills one up and either satisfies or disturbs them. The main course in life is everything you ever do, ever see, ever touch, ever hear. It's everything you've ever wanted or craved, needed or taken. The main course is your livelihood, the time when you're actually living. And when one reaches the very end, there is but one thing left. One thing everyone craves, yet not everyone can have.

Dessert.

When most people hear dessert, the first thing they think is cookies and cakes, pies and creams, and a dentist's worst nightmare. In life, dessert isn't always sweet though. Sometimes, it is sour, bitter, strained, or a combination of the four. In life, love is your dessert. If you've been good enough and eaten enough during the main course, you may be rewarded with dessert. It can come at anytime, any where, and with anyone. It could be the best thing that's ever happened to you, or the worst. It could be the hot, homemade apple pie, or the ten-week-old fruit salad you left on the counter. It all depends on you really. It depends on whom you choose, and who chooses you.

Severus Snape was given dessert at a young age. What could have been sweet was sour and bitter. It ultimately ruined his appetite for life. He fell for the wrong person, at the wrong time, in the wrong place, and suffered for it every day of his life as he watched them in the arms of another man. That man, that lucky son of a Squib, took everything from him and he'd never forgive him for it. But who was that man who ruined his life, who ruined everything? Well, that's for you to decide. I'll give you a hint, though.

It wasn't James Potter.

Author's Ending Notes: So, this was pointless as I said before. It made no sense in the slightest at first, but then it spoke louder than most things I've written. There are times when you write things, you may hate them, you may love them, but they stand out among the other pieces. This did, and that's why it's on here. I hope you enjoyed reading it and a review would really be nice.
